This document provides guidance on properly storing seed samples, which is important for seed testing and quality control. It recommends two methods for storing samples: 1) A dedicated storage room that maintains low humidity and temperature through insulation, moisture proofing, and refrigeration/dehumidification; or 2) Using desiccant silica gel in storage boxes to dry and maintain seed samples at a low moisture level without needing room dehumidification. Samples should be stored in uniform, numbered containers and protected from insects through fumigation or insecticide. Seed sellers are also responsible for storing representative samples of the seeds they sell for up to three years as part of quality records.
