This document summarizes a student project to design and fabricate an automatic indicator system for vehicles. The system links the vehicle's steering mechanism to the headlights so that the headlights always illuminate in the direction the front wheels are turning. It aims to improve safety during night driving, especially on winding mountain roads. The design uses rack and pinion steering gear to convert rotational steering wheel motion to linear front wheel motion. Cables then connect the steering to the headlights so they move in tandem with the wheels. The system was built and tested as part of an engineering student project.
