A CSF analysis examines cerebrospinal fluid to diagnose central nervous system conditions. It involves measuring CSF pressure and analyzing samples for cells, proteins, glucose and other factors. A lumbar puncture is typically done to collect CSF. Analysis helps identify infections, bleeding, tumors and other brain or spinal disorders. Pleural fluid analysis evaluates fluid in the lungs' pleural cavity, distinguishing transudates caused by conditions like heart failure from exudates linked to infections, cancers and other injuries or inflammations. Paracentesis analyzes peritoneal fluid accumulation in the abdomen to determine if it is a transudate or exudate, aiding diagnosis of liver disease, infections and other causes.
