This document discusses the use of digital badges at two-year colleges to serve community needs. Several colleges described their digital badge programs for non-credit students. Badges help move non-credit programs from seat-time to assessed learning, improve curriculum rigor and assessment, and provide a non-credit transcript with verifiable credentials. Digital badges can help bridge skills gaps identified by employers and employees. Badges provide verification of skills for students and program recognition. Students report badges have helped verify skills and add skills to their LinkedIn profiles, leading to more job offers. Questions are invited from the audience on lessons learned and defining community.
