Thislessonwe decidedtopicksome scenesformourplotandstat to devise them.Firstwe lookedat
the school scene whichIhad the ideato have everyone infastforwardwiththe characterof Verity
on herphone as thoughshe isignoringthe restof the world,textingJordan.Abbysuggestedthatwe
use placardsto showthe times/lessonsthatare movingonwithoutherattention. We hadthe idea
to have Molly,Sophie andIrotating as studentsandthe class teacherwiththe teacherof each
subjectsayingsomethingsmall asif inclass.For example Iwill actasthe Englishteacherandwould
mentionShakespeare (directreference tothe stimulus). The transitionswere all of uswalkinginthe
gaps in-betweenone anotherandtothe positionsof the classes- sittingindifferentsitseachtime.
Craig realisedthatif he wasinthisscene beingastudentand a teacheritcouldconfuse the audience
as he is alreadyMickand Jordan. We realisedthatwe neededmusicandperhapsnodialogue asthe
scene waslong(and, as Abbypointedout,tedious)sotokeepthe progressionof the lessongrowing
we decidedtomove onto anotherscene.
Thisscene wasa scene thatI suggested;it’sascene where VerityistextingJordaninherroom and
Livcomes into annoyher.I thisscene we usedthingswe couldthinkof that youngersiblingswould
do to annoytheiroldersibling- suchasthe ‘K.I.S.S.I.N.G’rhyme. Whentryingtograbthe phone we
came upwiththe ideafor me to hitAbbyin the back of the knee causinghertofocuson her knee
rather thanher phone. We didthisto show the relationshipbetweenthe sisters (Liv knowsVerity’s
weakpoints) whichiswhywhenVerityisbeingmore serious itcreatestensionbetweenthem.
Thenwe movedonto the table scene before the argument.Thisiswherethe characterof Verity
wouldbe at the dinnertable buttextingJordan.ThisirritatesScarlet(hermother) whothen triesto
take the phone awayfrom her.The tensionneeds tobuildbeforethissowe decidedtohave my
character whispertoVerityabouttellinghermotheraboutwhosee istexting. Thisthenleadstomy
character eventuallycoughingandsayingJordan.Thiswillbe what startsthe argumentleavingLiv
stuck inthe middle andscared.
We have allocatedthisscene to Craigto write overthe Christmasholidays andIvolunteered towrite
the scene withLiv teasingVerity:
