Soccer, also known as football, is a team sport played between two teams of 11 players each using their feet and legs to move a ball into the opposing team's goal. The sport originated in ancient times and the modern game was developed in England in the mid-19th century. Today soccer is governed by FIFA and is one of the most popular sports in the world with over 200 member countries. The objective is for each team to score more goals than the opposing team within two 45-minute halves.
