 If Mark opts for Singapore : -
 Lower post available at Singapore.
 Better position given to someone else though Mark was the best
candicdate.
 He had been promised to give a better position once the post is
available.
 Wife’s father ill. He would be able to take care of his father as well as
wife’s family.
 If Mark doesn’t opt for Singapore: -
 Better job opportunity at Netherland.
 Higher salary. Better facilities compared to UK.
 Promotion to better job.
WHAT FACTORS CONTRIBUTED TO MARK’S RE-ENTRY
PROBLEMS?
 Post of middle management available.
 Regional marketing officer.
 Ambiguity and Uncertainity regarding future.
 No such offer available which was lucrative and could compensate the
job in UK.
WHAT CAN ORGANIZATIONS DO TO AVOID SUCH
PROBLEMS?
There are various steps that a company can take: -
• The company should forecast the employee needs properly.
• Once relocated, the company should be able to provide the support.
• The company should help in proper career development.
FROM HR PERSPECTIVE, WHAT COULD BE THE
INTERNATIONAL CAREER DEVELOPMENT?
• Development and Quality Training
• Skill enhancement
• More preference towards internal recruitment
• Providing more assistance if relocated to different nation.
