SmartSense is a support service from Hortonworks that monitors Hadoop clusters, identifies potential issues, and provides solutions. It enhances support subscriptions by enabling faster case resolution, proactive cluster configuration, and long-term cluster optimization. SmartSense integrates with Ambari and includes an Ambari view. It allows customers to download a bundle, install/capture analytics, and review and resolve any issues. The latest version of SmartSense is now included as part of Ambari installations and upgrades.

SmartSense 1.2.0 Significant improvements were also delivered to further enhance the value of our support subscription, such as: SmartSense Inside - With Ambari 2.2.0, SmartSense 1.2.0 is included as part of the default set of services, and can be easily installed when provisioning new clusters, or added as a service post-upgrade. This eliminates a number of manual steps customers previously needed to perform to “activate” SmartSense. Automatic Upload - The new SmartSense Gateway provides for automatic bundle upload and scheduled collection even in environments with restricted outbound internet access. Over 200 rules! - More than double the number of Configuration Rules providing deeper and more tailored recommendations across HDP versions.
