Pennsylvania, on July 11, 1943 is best known for his Theory of Multiple Intelligences. Gardner, a
developmental psychologist, received his undergraduate degree and PhD from Harvard University.
Gardner has authored many books/articles and received many awards. In his book, Frames of Mind:
The Theory of Multiple Intelligences, Gardner introduced The Theory of Multiple Intelligences. This
paper will discuss The Theory of Multiple Intelligences and give practical ways this theory can be
used in the classroom.
The Theory of Multiple Intelligences In 1983 Howard Gardner introduced The Theory of Multiple
Intelligences. In his theory, Gardner suggests that all people possess eight intelligences. The eight
intelligences are linguistic (verbal), musical, spatial, logical mathematical, bodily kinesthetic
(movement), interpersonal (understanding others), intrapersonal (understanding self), and naturalist
(observing and understanding natural and human made patterns and systems) (Woolfolk, 2014, p.134).
The first intelligence, linguistic or verbal, deals with language. Someone with linguistic intelligence
has the ability to express themselves easily and understand complex word meanings. They usually
think in words and reflect on the use of language. Linguistic intelligence is the most widely shared
human competence (Gardner, n.d., p.1). These are the poets, public speakers, and authors.

Don t Push Delicate Things Too Hard
In the story The Scarlet Ibis James Hurst tells a story of how a young boy, Doodle, was mentally
challenged and was expected to die. The story is narrated by Doodle s older brother who tells the
reader what he did with Doodle everyday. The story begins when Doodle was a baby and wasn t
expected to live but he did. From there the narrator starts teaching him how to do normal things like
walking, running, and swimming to protect his pride from the fact that his brother wasn t normal,
however, Doodle was every fragile and when he was pushed too hard to do something he ended dying.
In the middle of the story a bird called the Scarlet Ibis comes into their yard and dies from exhaustion
much like the way Doodle did. The theme of the story is don t push delicate things too hard. Within
the story there are several literary devices Hurst used to focus on the theme throughout the story like
symbolism, foreshadowing, and flashbacks.
To illustrate how fragile things meet their end as a result of another force pushing them to use their
absolute entirety of strength until they cannot move forward anymore, Hurst creates a symbol, the
Scarlet Ibis, that represents Doodle. Doodle s older brother, the narrator, always pushed Doodle to do
things he deemed impossible to create a normal brother for himself, but there was never any harm to
Doodle. In the same manner, the Scarlet Ibis was pushed to North Carolina from its native region in
Florida, by a hurricane. Through this ordeal the fowl exerted all its strength to work against the storm
leaving it exhausted, finally resulting in the ultimate destruction of the creature, How many miles it
had traveled to die like this, in our yard, beneath the bleeding tree (Hurst 424). The scarlet ibis was out
of place in this neighborhood, like how Doodle was out of place in his world too, due to how fragile
and underdeveloped he is, not to mention, how weak the bird was from having to endure the storm

SYNTHESIS This type of report refers to experiments whose main goal is to prepare a pure substance
from specific starting materials. This necessarily involves a chemical transformation, or reaction. In
the simplest case, there is only one step. The starting materials are combined and a product forms.
This product is isolated, purified, and characterized, producing the final outcome of the experiment. In
a multistep synthesis, the product of the first step is used as a starting material in a second step, and so
on, until a final product is obtained. No multistep syntheses are performed in organic lab I. Some two

The Ethical Implications Of Artificial Intelligence
I just wrote on the ethical implications of Artificial Intelligence (A.I.); However, I could not pass up
the chance to write about how A.I. is making a difference in the treatment and management Cancer.
When I think of Artificial Intelligence, I think about robots, but A.I technology is and has been part of
our lives for a very long time. It is in our computers, our phones, our watches, even in our homes. I
have a thermostat that learns the temperature that we like to keep our house at. It even detects when
we are not home and will adjust the temperature according. I really didn t think about A.I. technology
in this way, but a program that learns and responds to what ot learns is definitely intelligent. Charlie
Rose reported on A.I. and cancer care during the 60 Minutes broadcast on October 9, 2016. I do not
understand why the public only hears about the extraordinary technology that is being invented and
implemented in society. We should hear about all the the advances that the companies make. The
public has the right to know about the technology that could be used to improve lives, not just when it
might seem awe inspiring, like this broadcast was. 10 years ago IBM decided that Watson, a
supercomputer made up of 90 servers and 15 terabytes of memory enough capacity to process all the
books in the American Library of Congress (Rose 2016), should be programmed to go up against
Jeopardy champions. Watson can read one million books per second, but the trick
