Strength of India for
tourism
• Country of rich heritage and traditions having a
vast and varied history.
• Places of ancient civilization and settlements
dating back to several centuries present in
India.
• Unity in Diversity i.e.. Multicultural people
staying together in the same country.
• One of the fastest growing economies of the
world.
• India has been maintaining good and cordial
relationship with different countries which
helps the people of those countries to get the
visas easily to visit India.
• Alternative treatment like yoga & Ayurveda.
• Special dietary services for international
patient.
• Lesser cost of medical procedures.
Weakness
• Insufficient standard hotels in the country
leading to the problem of accommodation
for the visiting tourists.
• Lack of proper infrastructure.
• Poor health, lack of hygiene and proper
sanitation among majority of people
especially in the rural parts of the country.
• Incidents of local people harassing and
torturing the visiting tourists especially
the foreign tourists in different parts of
the country.
• Air & water pollution in India.
• No Medico legal security for medical
tourists.
Threats
• Our people, who do not have empathy for tourists.
They charge exorbitantly for all merchandise and
memoirs. Our people, who do not understand
importance of maintaining historical monuments in
good condition. They litter and they inscribe
everywhere at will.
• These incidents dramatically reduces the foreign
tourist arrivals in India.
• Lack of facilities like guides, good hotels (not costly
ones), hygienic food and water, information boards
etc.
• Diseases in recent years such as Dengue,
Chikungunya and Swine Flu are causing the tourists
to stay away from visiting different parts of the
country.
• Lack of publicity for good tourist destinations
among the travellers and also lack of good
education to the locals on receiving guests and
hosting them. Also, lack of publicity on cuisines and
cultures.
• Increasing competition from other exotic countries.
Ex- Singapore, Hong Kong etc.

Heritage Sites in Agra.
Jaipur/Udaipur
Jaipur is also popularly known as the Pink City, is the
capital of the Indian state of Rajasthan. Jaipur is a
very famous tourist and education destination in
India.
Lots of people flock to Jaipur to view the various
forts and monuments in Jaipur which reflect its
glorious past. Tourism is a significant part of Jaipur’s
economy. Some of the world’s best hotels are
located here.
Goa
Goa is Famous for its pristine beaches, infact 90% of
all the tourism in Goa happens only for its beautiful
beaches in Coastal Areas. Goa has two main tourist
seasons: winter and summer. In the winter time,
tourists from abroad (mainly Europe) come to Goa to
enjoy the splendid climate. In the summertime
(which, in Goa, is the rainy season), tourists from
across India come to spend the holidays.
Mountain Tourism
India has fascinated millions of people from the
various geographical locations of the world, to visit
the country, where many religions were born and
flourished. It is a land of varied diversity, where over
a billion people speak more than 700 languages, sync
together to prosper as a nation. There are numerous
tourist destinations in the country. With “Athiti Devo
Bhava” (Guests are Gods) as the prime lesson being
taught in each household. It is one of the most tourist-
friendly nations in the world.
The hills have been successful in holding up the
century-old traditions and cultures that have
prospered the lives of the people in Incredible India.
India is dotted with the awe-inspiring hills all over
the country starting right up from Jammu and
Kashmir to Tamil Nadu, encapsulating over 20
mountain ranges.
There are many hill station tours in India to choose
from, but the problem remains which one to select. In
a country with over 20 mountain ranges, choosing a
hill station can be a very challenging task.
The travel and tourism in the northern part of the
nation is dominated by the Himalayas, offering
everyone a chance to get spellbound by the grandeur
of the peaks and picturesque landscape, which one
cannot ignore.

Almora
The beauty of the hills has captivated millions
including Swami Vivekananda, who meditated here
and wrote some of his popular speeches. It has
provided a sanctuary for the people who visit the
hills to find solace from the monotony of life. It was
the serenity of the picturesque landscape that
helped Rabindranath Tagore and many others in
their conquest to rejuvenate the lost sparks of their
lives.
Ranikhet
Built entirely by the Britishers, Ranikhet accounts for
the beauty of fauna and topography of the Himalayas.
It provides a very calm atmosphere for the visitors to
relax. Britishers were captivated by its beauty to an
extent that they thought of naming it as the summer
capital instead of Shimla.
Kalimpong
Kalimpong is a live example of Colonial Architecture in
India. The place is replete with many monasteries and
churches. It has a very peaceful and calm atmosphere,
where the hustle and bustle is only limited to the local
“bazars” (market). Kalimpong is renowned for its
beautiful orchids and nurseries that produce flowering
plants.
