The Center of Ethics of Science and Technology was established in 2006 at Chulalongkorn University as an interdisciplinary research unit. The Center aims to systematically research the ethical and social implications of advances in science and technology, especially as they affect developing countries. Objectives of the Center include conducting research, collaborating with other centers, teaching courses in bioethics and computer ethics, and organizing conferences and workshops. The Center is comprised of faculty from various departments including philosophy, computer science, psychiatry, and journalism. Past projects have included collaborations on biomedical ethics as well as research on science and culture in Thai society. Current research projects focus on topics such as computer ethics, bioethics, and Buddhist perspectives.
