Abstract: Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) and Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT)
are the most known methods used in digital image compression. Wavelet transform
has better efficiency compared to Fourier transform because it describe any type of
signals both in time and frequency domain simultaneously. In this paper, we will
discuss the use of Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) and Discrete wavelet
transformation (DWT) based Image compression Algorithmand compare the
efficiency of both methods. We do the numerical experiment by considering various
types of images and by applying DCT and DWT SPIHT to compress an image. We
found that DWT yields better result as compared to DCT.

heart of JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) standard and widely used

Though Tom Reganwrites about an important topic, there is very little credibility
shown throughout the document. When discussing the whaling incident, Regan takes
the account of an unknown man whose name is not even mentioned throughout the
reading. It is also unknown if this person is someone trustworthy enough to give a
truthful statement about what really happened during the whale hunt situation. The
same thing happens again when Regan gives an example of another person
experience with how cruel people are to animals this time dealing with the gibbon.
The person who described what happened during the hunt to Regan name was given,
but we have no knowledge of if this person is trustworthy enough to give an accurate
account on what happened to the gibbon. Throughout the reading Regan gives more
examples of the inhuman practices that happen to animals but with very little ethos to
back up his claims, readers may not think of him as accountable

Vaccinations have been saving over 6 million lives since Edward Jenner created the
smallpox vaccine in 1796 (Immunisation Advisory Centre). Today without vaccines
we would be living in a very different world that would be struck with disease, but
now this is becoming a reality for some religious and allergenic communities. On
NPR an interview was conducted during Science Friday, Talk of the Nation with
special guest, Dr. Offit, an author of the book Deadly Choices: How the Anti Vaccine
Movement Threatens Us All. He stressed the importance of vaccines on the show

In the following essay, I am going to present a comparison between two linguistic
studies. Constructing another Language Usage Based Linguistics in Second
Language Acquisition by Eskildsen and Sources of Linguistic Knowledge in the
second language acquisition of English articles by Ionin, Zubizarreta, and Maldonado
are going to be contrasted regarding their theoretical frameworks, research questions
and research designs together with the conclusions reached.
Reading the two studies, certain conclusions regarding their theoretical framework
can be drawn. The first article provides Usage Based linguistics view of language
learning as mainly based on experience and item, with particular formulas used at the

My family and I go on a camping trip to Allegheny State Park every year. We have
many funny memories from the trips. Many of the stories revolve around the bears
that live in the mountains in Allegheny State Park. The funniest had to happen three

The camping trip took place in the month of August, just like every year. The trip
included my parents, siblings, and my uncle, aunt and cousins. Every year we rent
two cabins right next to each other. This year the bears were coming up to the cabin

We went on many more camping trips; but never forgot the where my plans were not

It was in the summer of 1999 when my family decided to take a camping trip to
Colorado. I was a typical 15 year old high school student, which meant family

A Dying Declaration means the statement of a person who has died explaining the
circumstances of his death. It can be said to be a statement made by a mortally
