Llamas are woolly mammals native to South America that are related to camels. They live in the Andes Mountains between Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, and Chile, where the climate is mild. Llamas are used as pack animals in the mountains and are raised for their wool, meat, hides, and dung, which is burned as fuel. Llamas can live 15 to 28 years, communicate with humming sounds, and spit as a way to assert dominance.
