M3.7 PDC+++ To return the control of food to each local community is something essential to creating sustainable societies.   Only installing this practice as habitual would change other systems a lot, amongst them the economy, soil regeneration & ecosystem & human health. We explore the importance of food sovereignty & how it works in practice.  Included in this class is an exploration in some detail in the various organic food-growing styles that can be used, in small & large scale, with examples of good practice in different areas of the planet. of the M3.7 Food Sovereignty an integral exploration PDC + + +

Wild Foods The most mini-max, nutritious, healthy for all ecosystem (Perennials, resistant to draughts, etc.) Most of our 'pests' are more nutritious (potentially) than bred foods (eg. Cangoroos, Pidgeons, Rats, Rabbits) Observing & Listening to the Landscape, getting in touch with Nature, minimax

Mushrooms www.fungi.com Further they contribute a wide range of essential amino acids. Low in fat (between .3 and 2%) and high in fiber, mushrooms also provide several groups of vitamins, particularly thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, biotin, ascorbic acid and Vitamin D. 'home kits' ... Mushrooms give you maximum nutritional benefit only upon cooking. Mushrooms are relatively high in protein, averaging about 20% of their dried mass.
Insects & Invertebrates Highly nutritious, abundant & easy to cultivate Many still culturally unacceptable in the West, eg. grasshoppers, worms, larvae Snail farming very profitable when done well (snail caviar, snail slime, shells Ca for soil & chickens, etc.)
Guinea Pigs Highly nutritious, breed easily, easy to feed, no significant disease, small, etc. "Fast Food" - quick to prepare Easier overall than rabbits, chickens, pigs, etc. Make nice pets
Berries & Flowers Berries have high vitamin content Anything with deep or unusual colours often contain rare & vital micro-nutrients Rich colours on flowers & fruit are Nature's way of attracting pollinating & seed-spreading animals For maximum nutrition, choose deep colors

SeaWeed & WaterPlants Seas & Oceans provide very important minerals not found on land food Where not polluted can be abundant & easy to harvest & treat Water plants grow fast & abundantly given heat & light also (water-chestnuts, water celery, watercress, etc.) Seaweed - the richest while inexpensive source of assimilable minerals & trace elements on planet earth
Fermented Foods Fermentation very important for preserving food without fridges or toxic chemichals Increased nutrient content in same foods when fermented, eg. sourcrout, yogurt, kefir, fermented drinks & meats ('rotten') Cereals have to be fermented to be better digestible for humans Stronger taste relates to better nutrition

Urban Food Growing 55% of the world population now lives in cities. & all cities can grow at least a great percentage of their own food A great deal of wastes from urban areas are welcome in organic gardening Rural permaculture projects could be wise to make provisions for urbanites leaving the cities A 3 day transport strike would result in no food in the supermarkets, currently.
For back-yard gardening see these inspiring sources: Garden Girl The Devaes Homestead The Guerra's Garden PermaBlitzes & Guerilla Gardening Cities section of Global Gardener
it can take very little time & expense
all cities could grow their own food
with good design, a surprising amount of high-quality food can be grown in very little space
permaculturesolutions.com.au/thomasstreet/ mulching - mad, perma-blitz events instant gardens urban PC "Perma-Blitzes" gardens are great multi-functional community-builders!
re-claiming lawns fun for all ages

Individual initiatives are a key thing and a precious source of experience, but at the same time we need to implement collective solutions around food
Already more than 14 “pairs” And know they can dispose of two large plots that maybe transform in a CSA
Since its inception as a monthly food buying group for 8 families in someone’s garage FGU now has a mailing list of over 220 names

What else? “ The yield is limited only by the imagination”
A Leaver Food Attitude There should be no problem of finding food for Man one should eat just as one breathes, not paying attention to the food, not distracting one's thoughts from more important things. from Anastasia - The Ringing Cedars Novels The Creator has left that task up to others so that Man can live as Man,  fulfilling his own destiny.
