Project Proposal Introduction: Brett Thomas was commissioned by a member of 94.1 WIP, a Philadelphia sports-talk radio station, to construct a website for the community of Philadelphia sports fans. The website will serve as a one-stop place for news, scores, and discussion for all Philly sports. It will be highlighted by a page featuring blog posts of news and scores. It will also contain a page that allows fans to discuss through forums. Finally, it will feature four pages specific to the four major sports teams in the city (Eagles, Sixers, Phillies, Flyer), all of which will commemorate the respective teams' most recent championship title. The project will be referred to as Broad Street Media LLC, and any questions or concerns can be directed to Brett Thomas at [email protected]. Problem: In the current world, there are plenty of all-encompassing sports media websites out there. However, with over one hundred and fifty professional sports franchises, and even more college programs, these platforms can become over-saturated with content, and make it difficult for fans to be as involved as they want with their favorite teams. With the new website, Philadelphia fans, who are known for their extreme passion, can get all the latest news and tailored content for professional Philly sports teams in one place. Solution: The website will feature a variety of different pages, all of which serve different purposes. A Home page will display the latest breaking news and most recent scores, via blog posts. There will also be a place for fans to discuss whatever they may want to talk about and offer their opinions. This will be offered through a forum page, where fans can post discussion topics and reply to others. Finally, there will be the four celebratory pages, one for each of the following teams: Sixers, Flyers, Eagles, and Phillies. More about these in the next section.

Deliverables: The website will feature the following pages: Home: Recent scores, breaking news, major highlights, via blog posts Discussion: This page will allow fans to come together and discuss whatever they may want to talk about regarding Philly sports. Users will be able to create forum posts and reply to others, engaging in conversation. Team Title Pages: Each of the Eagles, Sixers, Phillies, and Flyers will all have their own page commemorating their most recent championship run. These pages will be similar to blog posts and will offer a brief summary of the teams’ title years. For the Eagles, this will cover the 2017 season. The Phillies’ will be all about 2008. The Sixers and the Flyers will go back much further, covering the 1983 and 1975 seasons, respectively. Contact Us: This page lets fans contact the company to offer suggestions and constructive criticism, as well as alert us of any potential bugs or errors. The website will also feature images of the latest games, video highlights, links, etc. Process and Costs: The website took approximately 3 months to build and develop, ensuring that it was constructed to the standards of the client. It took some time to acquire permission for some of the images, as well as sort out how the website would be laid out. The styles for the pages were designed with CSS files, after the client settled on their ideal look. They also had to determine what outside links would be included on the website, such as links to their social media accounts. The client was charged $23 per hour and clocked at 60 hours of labor. Yearly hosting costs come in at $420 annually, calculated at $35 per month. The labor costs amounted to $1380, which brings the total costs to $1800 for the initial year, followed by an annual hosting cost of $420 for every subsequent year.
