Project Concept/Synopsis:
Kids are taken from young ages and sent to a facility to keep them safe from the dangers of what
is happening to their world. They believe they are kept there until the age of 17 until they are sent
to the “heaven”. During the time they are kept educated and complete weekly tasks and quizzes
while their brains are monitored. We learn that the facility wiped their memories once they arrived
there, they are disconnected with everything from their past. The outside world has been
abandoned due to an event called “the burning” caused by climate change which has caused a
brain virus making you become zombie like. The worlds government believe that these kids can
save humans as they are born during or after “the burning”. After 6392 realises along side with
others that they are slowing bringing in little to no children, she starts to realise something isn’t
right with the idea of “the heaven” when she experiences nightmares. She starts to explore the
facility and finds what the heaven really is. She tells her friends and convinces them to escape with
her with inside help from a government doctor who has heard of a rebellion group who believe
these children and not worth sacrificing for everyone else. They escape and must survive this new
world to find the rebellion group to help fight back.
I Research dystopian film and books and take the stereotypical characteristics from the genre, so it
fits with the theme and aim of my story. It will help my project by gathering which moments are
pivotal and how the audience attached to certain characters and creates a disliking for others.
Some film and books I will look at are:
- Maze runner
- Hunger games
- The island
- Divergent
Target Audience:.
This film is a coming-of-age story which is the transitioning age of teenage to adult (14-21). The
main character is a woman so a main theme would be to encourage young women to use their
voice and power that is often pushed aside. However, the film is still aimed at all genders as it
should attract everyone.
The film isn’t aimed at a specific social grade; however, I think that people in the c1c2de grade
would be more attracted to this type of film as it demonstrates a fight against the upper middle and
middle class. The low middle class below would find it more relatable and is most of the
population.
There are multiple psychographic groups that the film will be attracted to. The main character is a
need driven and a balanced/totally integrated person as they are built on instinct with their
outcome wanting to benefit mankind. The group followed throughout the film are against people
like the achiever as they use their power to fear others.
People all around the world will be attracted the film but people who live in an urban environment
are likely to film the story line interesting. People in rural areas will most likely relate to the rebel
group in the film as they live in a similar lifestyle if the world was put in an apocalypse situation.
The group of people who have strong characteristic to loyalty, truth, adventure, devoted, heart-
warming, faithful etc. will more likely enjoy the film from the people who contrast against these
characteristics. I think that people who are in education will be attracted to it because they are
more willing the learn and the film would hold some important lessons.
