Thinking Back
The original aim of this experience was reached in different ways. Firstly, there was a
grammar objective to achieve, which was “the first conditional structure” and how to use it
effectively. Secondly, the assigned group was a special one, a first year of elementary
students. Finally, this grammar objective was needed for an international exam, what
means the students need to grasp the real use of it. I planned six lessons with a wide variety
of activities to encourage the group to speak and to learn without feeling they were
studying! It worked really well; it was significant for learners because they manage to
express their ideas recognizing causes and results for their actions. Despite the fact that it
was a quite small group, it had so many different challenges to face while teaching. The
most important aspect to emphasize is that even though you have everything single detail
planned in advance, there is always something to face on stage. That is to say that if you
have a good plan you will have time to be flexible to adapt the activity or to adopt a
different one!
Thinking Forward
In my future goals I will include more technology to engage my students on their learning
process. Our students are hi-tech students what requires their teachers being updated and
ready to learn how to use new gadgets all the time. I don’t think I would make a lot of
different pedagogical decisions, but I think I would adapt them to the way our students

learn, how they interact with their environment and peers, how they face their challenges.
Thinking Inward

This practicum period was meaningful to me because this experience made me feel
confortable but also challenged and moved. I could experience how my personal beliefs
affect my teaching practice, and moreover how those beliefs can affect my students’
learning. I was focused on my performance in a very conscious way as regards the later
need to write about this on my padlet portfolio. I am deeply satisfied with the way I
developed this practice because I could manage the group and the way they connect with
each other and with their teacher. In general, teenagers are a tough group but also a very
rewarding one if you can create a good rapport with them and among them. Fostering good
relations among them based on values like respect, care and love are key concepts to be
successful in this job.
Thinking Outward
During all this practicum period, I realized that most of my viewpoints, worries and fears
are common to teachers who have been teaching for a long time. It is always possible to
articulate our viewpoints to make the most of each situation, seeking for the best option for
my students and me.
One of my strongest viewpoints is the need to be flexible which means to train our teaching
practice to adapt efficiently our plans for the best result ahead. As everything happens
chaotically today in our world, a good plan gives the backup to be creative while it is
needed to face the problems or difficult situations in a most caring way.
