REGIONAL NEWSPAPER
EVALUATION QUESTION
HOW EFFECTIVE IS THE COMBINATION OF YOUR MAIN PRODUCT AND
ANCILLARY TASKS?
When planning the regional newspaper the
ancillary tasks had to be taken into account. The
ancillary tasks chosen by myself was the radio
advertisement and the billboard poster all to
advertise the regional newspaper of course.
Knowing this I knew that the regional newspaper
had to be well detailed and have certain
elements so that the ancillary tasks could be
linked through the use of texts, colours and
images thus advertising the regional newspaper
and creating a brand identity.
Billboard Poster
The billboard poster of course being a poster for the regional
newspaper will use key elements of the regional newspaper
such as the logo and colour scheme of the logo to reinforce
the brand identity and link the billboard poster and the
regional newspaper together.
I’m thinking that the billboard will employ the use of the
logo and colour scheme of the regional newspaper logo at
least to ensure that the brand identity is built and any
consumer could easily link the two media products together.
Radio Advertisement
The regional newspaper has got a lot of detail within it such as in-
depth stories and other elements such as the date of the day. With
these key details in place I can easily plan to use some of these
details with in the radio advertisement to ensure the brand identity of
the regional newspaper is reinforced and that the two media
products are linked.
My initial thoughts on how to connect these two media products is
too have key details mentioned within the radio advertisement. For
example, the radio advert could have mention to the date and the
stories ‘currently’ being discussed in the region thus creating a
strong between the two media products. The links may be subtle but
they are strong because the advert will perfectly describe the key
features of the regional newspaper.
CONCLUSION
Overall, the main task and ancillary tasks will be linked
through visual and subtle details that all relate to the
main media product and as a result a brand identity will
be created.
The billboard poster will use the colour scheme and logo
possibly whilst the radio advert will try to use the details
of the newspaper in the advert such as the date and
stories included within the main task.
