Research Into Q Magazine
Cover Page
     The logo/ title of the magazine is in
     the top left of the page as it’s the
     first thing to be seen by the reader
     though the root of the eye. The
     text of the “Q” is bold, white, serif
     font which seems slightly cartoon
     like as it is on a bright red
     background which attracts the
     reader to the magazine. The text
     under the “Q” is white, sans serif
     font. Its smaller than the “Q” as it’s
     a slogan of the magazine which
     tells the reader that there not just
     buying a “normal” music magazine
     as it quotes a “different take on
     music”.
Cover Page
     The cover story is shown in the main optical area of
     the cover as it the main thing to be seen by the
     reader and comes mid way through the root of the
     eye. The typography of the text is bold, sans serif
     fonts with the name of the artist first name in black
     and the last name in white, with a quote about the
     artist in white, blue, black and red. These colours are
     used as it makes the cover stand out to the reader
     and shows originality as it would stand out from the
     shelf's in the shop, and the colour seam is used
     through out the cover. The language of the text is
     informal as it uses words like “sexy” which tend to be
     used in groups of friends which makes the magazine
     address its audience in a way that make people feel
     coverable as they talk to there close friends in the
     same way. The photo is a long shot of the female
     artist standing next to two panthers which are used
     as the female is described as a “sex beast” and big
     cats tend to be renowned as beasts. The lady is
     wearing black trousers, boots and has black hair
     which are all related to the panthers as they are the
     same colour of the lady's close .

     On the top right of the cover there are other
     articles that feature in the magazine which are
     shown on the top right of the cover as they
     are the second thing to be seen by the reader
     of the magazine by the root of the eye. The
     typography of the bands that are named are in
     larger black, bold, sans serif font as it helps to
     attract fans of the bands to the magazine as
     the names are in a larger font to the stand
     firsts of the bands names as it tells the reader
     why they are in the magazine. Also the
     “exclusive!” is in a large, red, serif font as its
     attract the reader to the cover as they would
     want to see the writing as it is a different
     colour to the rest of the text. The language of
     the headlines are informal as there are
     quotations of the bands and a tone that is
     comforting to the audience as it is the same
     sort of tone as the would speech.

     the last thing s to be seen by

beginning of the root of the eye and it’s the
first thing to be seen by the reader of the
magazine. The logo is next to the text as it tells
the reader that they are reading Q magazine.

about the magazine as it shows bold, white,
sans serif font which is smaller to the title as it
has less significance to the title, however it
tells the reader what issue the magazine is and

is in the top right corner as it is connected to
the title in the same banner but it is in smaller
fonts as it is less important and is the second
thing to be seen by the reader.

one of the last things to be seen by the reader as
it sums up the rest of the of the articles that are
in the magazine. The typography of the list uses
bold, black, sans serif font for the title of the
articles. The page numbers are in bold, sans serif
fonts. The “features” and “every month” parts
have the page numbers in red as the headings are
in large, bold, white, sans serif font with a red
background. The background colour is the same
colour of the page numbers as it carries on the
theme of the section of the list. In the “Oasis
special” section the title of the section is in a type
of gold and the page numbers are in the same
colour as it carries on the theme in the section of
the contents list. The writing under the title is
black, sans serif font which gives a description of
what the article is about. The language of the
contents list is informal as the tone used in the
text is a converting, friendly tone as it speaks the
audience as the audience would speak to there

as it’s the last thing seen by the reader. This has been placed
hear as it’s the last pages that are in the magazine which
explains why it has been placed in the bottom of the page.
The photo of the “review” section is on the left of the section
as it is the first part of the “review” section that is seen by the
reader by the use of the root of the eye and the photo show
the main article that is in the section. The photo is a wide,
long shot of the man dressed smartly which gives the man
more status as it seems he has the power to allow the reader
to believe his review as he ha more power over the audience.
The location of the pillars in the countryside shows the man
status as it makes him look like he is upper class and can tell
people his ideas and the readers will listen. The typography of
the text in the banner is white, bold, sans serif font as it
stands out on the black background as it is used as another
contents as the title of the section is in the same font as the
title of the page. The titles of the articles are in bold, black,
sans serif font to show the reader that it’s the title of the
article. The page numbers are in bold, red, sans serif font as
the logo of the magazine is red so it carries on the colour
scheme of the magazine. The text under the title is black, sans
serif font which gives a description of what the article is

the contents page as its one of the main
articles in the magazine and a band that
is well know and is one of the reasons
why the reader as brought the magazine.
The photo is a long shot which shows the
band on a hill in the middle of a park as
there is a town in the background. The
men's clothes are normal, casual,
everyday as they are in a location of a
park and they would have combatable
clothing because they could have walked
to the location. The photo covers most of
the page as it’s the main part of the page
where the reader would see the most as
it covers most of the root of the eye and
it covers the main optical area and he
right terminal area.

      be seen by the reader through the
      root of the eye. The typography of
      the title is large, sans serif font. It’s
      in red as the colour red is in the
      logo of the magazine and this is
      carried on throughout the double
      page of the magazine. The
      language of the tittle of the page is
      informal as is kind of a caption to
      the article, the tone that is used to
      address the reader fairly
      announced as it is revealed to the
      reader once they have turn the
      page.

      as it tells the reader where the article
      beginnings on the double page. The colour of
      the article is in white as it shows up on the
      black background and white is also the colour
      used of the logo of the magazine. The
      language of the article is formal as the tone of
      the article address the reader in a tone that is
      understandable to the reader.

      The subheading of the page is under
      the title as it has less significance to
      the title as it tells the reader who the
      article is about. Under the
      subheading there's a stand first
      which tells the reader a bit about
      the article below. The typography of
      the subheading is large, bold, sans
      serif font and the stand first is in the
      same font but smaller. The language
      of the article is informal as its mode
      of address is a conversation between
      the reporter and the reader is
      listening in. There is also parts where
      the reporter is talking to the reader
      about the artist.
Double Page
      The photo of the female artists is in the right
      page as its seen the most by the reader as its
      seen at the midway and end of the root of the
      eye as it’s the main part of the article as it
      shows the reader who the article is talking
      about. The photo of the woman is a mid shot
      this is used as it shows the woman's features
      and clothes that she is wearing and the faecal
      extractions and it looks like see is looking at
      the article it self. The cloths that the woman is
      wearing is a black t-shirt, a black hoody with
      silver ends and a black glove on her right hand
      with a badgered up left hand. The costume
      seems like the woman is quite sporty and ferly
      masculine as this is typical cloths worn by
      people who have been jogging or in a boxing
      ring. The props of the jewellery, make up
      shows that the woman is still slightly feminine
      as we tend to associate women with make up
      and jewellery.
Double Page
      The text in the bottom right terminal
      area of the page on the right page is a
      small description about the woman in
      the photo. The text has been placed hear
      as it is about the photo and fives the
      reader an over view of the article as it’s
      the last thing to be seen by the root of
      the eye. The typography of the text is
      large, bold, white, sans serif font as it
      shows up on the black cloths the woman
      is wearing and it’s the same colour text is
      used on the logo of the magazine. Next
      to the text there is a red strip, this is used
      as it show that the text is separate to the
      photo, red has been used as it’s the same
      colour of the background of the logo.
      The language of the text is formal as it
      address the reader in a normal tone use
      some sort of statistics by saying “in many
      respects”.
