There are two types of environments: physical and human. The physical environment has not been changed by people and includes natural features like landforms, rocks, rivers, weather, and climate and natural vegetation. The human environment has been changed by human activities to suit human needs. Natural resources are basic substances from the physical environment that are used by humans, including sunlight, air, water, rocks, land, and forests. Natural resources can be renewable like sunlight, timber, and hydroelectric power or non-renewable like fossil fuels. The environment influences how people live and people alter the environment to suit their needs.
