INTRODUCTION
The word seminar comes
from Latin word
‘seminarium‘, which
means “seed”.
A seminar is a form of
academic instruction
generally offered
University or offered by a
commercial or
professional organization.
DEFINITION
• A Seminar is group of member who come
together to share current issues and to share
their experiences, experiments, Discoveries
etc with others. Seminar are an Advanced
type of socialized technique.
• Each individual in the seminar group
participate in conducting their own research
or participate in larger projects.
AIMS
• To give student the opportunity to deal with methods of scientific analysis and Research
process
• Promoting greater Understanding of desirable interpersonal attitude interest and
development desirable group process
• To help students develop the skill to read and understand oral scientific texts.
• Student can gain experience in self evaluation and evaluation by others.
• Provide students with additional information, insight, and other approaches to solving
problems.
OBJECTIVES
• To help participants learn the content.
• Help with problem solving skill.
• Help students engage in method of
scientific analysis and research process.
• Promote students responsibility.
• Help student to change attitude and
values.
• To develop higher cognitive abilities.

ROLE AND
FUNCTION OF THE
PERSON INVOLVED
IN SEMINAR
• Role of President:- The convenor has to
plan and prepare total functionaries. He is
the core person and decides the theme of the
seminar fixes the objectives of seminar.
• Role of organizing secretary:- He is the
key person of the seminar and responsible
for the planning and executing the functions
of seminar.
• Role of chairperson of the technical
session of seminar:- He is the only person
to hold the complete responsibility of the
whole technical session. He should have the
adequate knowledge about the subject or
theme dealt in the seminar. Also he is co-
operative and clarifies the speaker’s
presentation.

• Role of the speaker/paper presenter of seminar:- The
speaker or paper presenter is the person who prepares an article
or paper about the theme or sub theme of the seminar to read
and discuss in the seminar concemed.
• Role of the participants of seminar:- There may be 25-40
participants in each sitting only allowed.
• Role of the observer of seminar:- The eminent persons and
honorable guests are invited to attend in the seminar are known
as observers.
STEPS INVOLVED IN SEMINAR
1. Pre seminar phase:-
• Selection of theme and its sub –
theme
• Venue,date and time must be
finalized.
• Permission must be taken from
authority.
• A compendium of selected paper
must be prepared by an expert
committee .

2. Seminar phase:-
• Ensue the physical facilities .
• welcome to all members.
• Theme and it’s a theme need to be
explained.
• Time management.
• The chairman our organising secretary
will announce the concept derived by the
seminar .

Post seminar phase:-
• Correction of the presented paper.
• Compilation of the restructure paper.
• preparation of budget report.
• Evaluation of seminar.
MERITS OF
SEMINAR METHOD
• Seminar is usually learner centered.
• The spontaneous learning can be achieved
effectively in this method.
• Learning by doing is encouraged in this method.
• Develop cognitive, affective domains based
learning.
• Norms of behaviour is developed and
reinforced.
LIMITATION OF SEMINAR METHOD
• This method found fit for higher
learning only.
• Only matured and balanced minded
teachers can make this method
successful.
• Time management is somewhat
difficult.
• The teacher must be resourceful in
nature.
CONCLUSION
• Seminar is a controlled type of
discussion.
• It is a method of teaching where the
students ability to solve problem is
increased by way of rational thinking
and reasoning.
