• Sri.Aurobindo Ghosh was born in
Calcutta on 15th August 1872.
• He was a brilliant scholar and
greek and latin.
• He is a writer, philosopher, poet
and nationalist.
• He contributed his intelletual in
various field like philosophy,
Culture, spirituality.
• He died on December 5,1950
in Pondicherry.
Shri. Aurobindo's  View  on  Education
Aurobindo Aims Of Education
1) Aurobindo’s first aim of education is the physical
development of the child.
2) The Second aim of education is to train all the senses
of hearing, listening, touching,smelling and testing of
the child.
3) The Third aim is to achieve mental development of a
child.
4) The Fourth aim of education is the development
morality.
5) Aurobindo emphasized that main aim of education is
to promote spiritual developemt.
Curriculum according to Aurobindo:-
 Aurobindo describes curriculum for different stages
of education :-
1) Mother tongue,english,french literture,national history,
art,painting general science and social studies and
arithmentic should be taught at primary stage.
2) Mother tongue, english,french literture, arithmetic,art,
chemistry, physics,botany,physiology,health education,social
studies at secondary stage.
3) Indian and western philosophy, history of civilzation, english
literature, french, socialogy, psychology, history, chemistry,
physics, botany at universe level.
4) Art,painting, photography, sculptural,drawing,type,cottage-
indusries,mechanical and eletrical engineering, nursing etc at
vocational level.
Aurobindo View on The Teacher- Taught
relationship
1) The first priniciple of true teaching is
“ That nothing can be taught.”
2) The Teacher is not an instuctor or taskmaster,
“ He is a helper and a guide."
3) The role of Teacher
“ Is to suggest and not to impose.”
