SMART LAMPPOST
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DcvyXDctjNA
MAIN STEPS
1 Public lighting network
The public lighting network is the best enablers for Smart City
services since it reaches the entire metropolitan area with a great
capillarity
2 LED Lighting
The lighting part of street lamps were switched to LED (Light
Emitting Diode) technology, bringing savings due to a better
energetic / environmental efficiency
3 Smart Lamppost
By adding IoT devices (sensors, concentrators etc.) and other equipment
to lampposts, they can become main nodes in the smart services
network
Tech story | Improving waste management in a multi-utility
Needs
✓ Monitor the level of fullness of bins, so to schedule
the operators for collection
✓ Create statistics on the bins that are more and less
used, how and when
✓ Keep track of the inventory of the bins displaced in
the city
✓ Optimize the waste collection operations and
activities
KPIs and benefits
✓ Reduced cost of waste collection
activities
✓ Identification of areas that need
more/less frequent visits from the
operator
✓ Integration of bin state data with
scheduling and planning activities
✓ Possibility of combining data with
other sources for holistic utility
management
Tech story | Reducing auto-consumption costs in a biogas power plant
Needs
✓ Acquire data from every electrical load
✓ Acquire fine-grained data from the generator
✓ Acquire production data
✓ Combine and analyze data: fine tuning of
operating parameters
✓ Detect/predict anomalous and inefficient
behaviors
KPIs and benefits
✓ Maximize energy production by fine
tuning motors and pumps
✓ Minimize (auto)consumption
✓ Improve maintenance (predict
faults/breaks)
✓ Monitor and compare multiple plants
to level-up the performance of similar
sites
