CASE STUDY

HELPED US TO SAVE TIME,

A STORIES ON BOARD CASE STUDY
THE CHALLENGE
As SolutionStream grew, the number of projects they handled
simultaneously increased significantly. This resulted in a new issue that
seemed minor in the early days. Teams at SolutionStream are highly
skilled in their own respective fields, yet it was difficult to be aware of
each projects’ requirements.
The situation required immediate attention as each team had only a
shallow understanding of the projects they were in charge of. This
brought attention to the increasing time needed for teams to reach a
deeper understanding of all the projects they were involved in.
This overhead at the beginning of each project had to be streamlined,
due to the increasing number of projects.

“IN STORIES ON BOARD THE CLARITY
AND THE CONTROL THAT PUTS IN THE
CUSTOMER’S HANDS IS REALLY REALLY
VALUABLE FOR US AND FOR THEM.”
A STORIES ON BOARD CASE STUDY
OUR SOLUTION
SolutionStream applies an intensive discovery phase to collaborate with
their clients at the beginning of each project. The main goal in this
process is to create consensus around their client’s vision. The team
enlists UX designers, technical architects and user researchers to draft,
refine and test the idea before a final product backlog is created. One of
the deliverables of this internal process is a story map. During the
process all the requirements are gathered about the project and this is
where StoriesOnBoard comes in very handy.
StoriesOnBoard not only offers a place and method for registering these
requirements, but presents these in a very visual layout so that
SolutionStream’s client can make sure they got all the things in place to
start. The cherry on top is that StoriesOnBoard gives back some control
to the clients. During the planning phase, SolutionStream’ clients can
request to change or control features outlined in StoriesOnBoard that will
affect the cost, timeline, and complexity. This complexity alone is really
vital for SolutionStream so they can more easily communicate that to
their partners.

A STORIES ON BOARD CASE STUDY
THE IMPACT
Our client combined their internal best practices with StoriesOnBoard
which allows them to gather requirements way faster during their initial
workshops compared to the methods they have done and tried prior to
our solution. StoriesOnBoard helped teams prioritize their backlog and
communicate their projects and tasks more effectively. Our tool saved
time for teams during discovery and this can be measured even in weeks.
StoriesOnBoard brought a new era to SolutionStream’s routine project
estimating and planning; their teams are now in a great place to start
implementing all they planned from a mush stronger position. That
resulted in a clear understanding of what needs to be done - agreed with
the client, and we provide a tool that helps product teams to create a
common understanding of the project itself.
