Introduction
 Stress is a physical ,mental or emotional tension you feel
when dealing with a change it can also be defined is an
individual response to change in circumstances or to a
threatened situation.
 It can be a personal reaction to an external event /demand
like writing an exam or to an internal state of mind like
worrying about an exam
 In today’s world, the demands & pressure guarantee that all
are under stress, in some cases it can be positive if we
have a belief that we can handle it or it can be detrimental
Stressors
 Threat , event or change are called stressors.
 It can be internal or external ,everyone doesn’t respond to
stressors in the same way because of differences in
perception.
 INTERNAL:- Thought,beliefs and attitude.
 EXTERNAL:- Loss,tragedy& changes.

 Daily hassles

1)Take a deep breath
 Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth

 Time management is a one of the greatest sources of stress so plan ahead,
make a reasonable schedule with timing , make a list of what tasks you have
to perform
 Priority is to be given
 Schedule time for both work and recreation
 If work becomes over burden, then take a walk or change your scenery
3)Connect with others
 To combat sadness boredom ,seek out activities by involving others
 Offers services to neighbour or voluntary organisation
 In general help others

 Bottling up emotions increases frustration and stress therefore share
your feelings with friends, parents or relatives so as to clear your mind of
confusions
 Write down your thoughts or feelings , this can assess us in clarifying the
situations
5)Take a minute vacation
 Imagine a quiet country scenery to move out of a stressful situations
 Or change your mental channel by reading a good book or listen to a
music or watch a movie of your taste etc.
6)Monitor your physical comfort
 If It’s hot ------------- maintain coolness
 If you chair uncomfortable ------------ change it
7)Get physically fit
 Academic life is often sedentary ------------- Can accumulate
stress
 Stress can release the pressure through exercise or physical activity
 hence relax ------------- running ,walking , swimming
 Others may prefer dance or martial arts or every activity that makes
them relaxed
8)Take care of your body
 Healthy eating and adequate sleep fuels your mind.
 Avoid consumption of caffeine and sugar
 As well nourished bodies are better to cope
9)Laugh
 Maintain a good sense of humour as laugh is good tonic
10) Avoid self medication
 In the long run, behaviour increase rather than decreases stress
 Prescription of medication on doctor advised is best
