Subordination

Subordination joins two closely related sentences using subordinating conjunctions like after, although, or because placed at the beginning of one sentence to show how it relates to the other sentence. Common subordinating conjunctions include after, although, as, because, before, if, since, when, while, until, unless, even though, and so that. Subordinating conjunctions allow writers to combine sentences to provide more context or explanation than simple coordination alone.
