Power of Goals by Dr. N R Kidwai,
Professor & Dean, JIT Jahangirabad
Positive Impact of Technology
Enhanced Teaching and Learning
• Digital cameras, projectors, PC/Tablet, internet, PPT, 3D visualization
tools etc are great help to grasp a concept easily. Visual explanation,
animations make classroom more interactive and interesting.
Globalization
• Students/teachers of schools in different locations , can “meet"
counterparts through video conferencing without leaving the
classroom.
No Geographical Limitations
• With online degree programs there is hardly any need of being
present physically in the classroom.

Power of Goals by Dr. N R Kidwai,
Professor & Dean, JIT Jahangirabad
Negative Impact of Technology
Declining Writing Skills
• Due to the excessive usage of online chatting and shortcuts, the
writing skills of today’s young generation is declining
• Poor spelling, poor writing
Increasing Incidents of Cheating
• Technological developments like graphing calculators, high tech
watches, mini cameras and similar equipment have become great
sources to cheat in exams.
Lack of Focus
• SMS /whatsapp/ facebook/online addiction may result in lack of
focus and concentration in academics/ sports and extra curricular
activities.

E-Learning
• e-Learning is the use of technology to enable
people to learn anytime and anywhere.
• E-learning can overcome the limitations of
times, distances, and resources.
• E-learning may be defined in two ways. First, it
includes all kind s of the utilization of ICT in
instruction. Second, it is limited to the use of
intranet in teaching-learning process.

Power of Goals by Dr. N R Kidwai,
Professor & Dean, JIT Jahangirabad
12
Traditional approach E-Learning
Classroom • Physical – limited size
• Synchronous
• Unlimited
• Anytime, anywhere
Content • PowerPoint/transparency/etc
• Textbooks/library
• Video
• Collaboration
• Multimedia / simulation
• Digital library
• On demand
• Syn & Asyn.
Communication
Personalization • One learning path • Learning path and pace
determined by learner
Benefits of E-learning
• Convenient: self-service, on-demand (anytime, anywhere)
private learning, self-paced, flexibility: (modular package)
• Student centric learning
• Media-rich: Easier to understand
• Repeatable: As many times as you like
• Easier to monitor progress: less administrative work
• Time and cost saving
• Environment Friendly: Paperless
