The Georgia TeleTrauma Pilot Project aims to address Georgia's rural trauma patient crisis through the use of telemedicine. It is a partnership between a level 1 trauma center, rural hospitals, and the Georgia Partnership for Telehealth. The project will allow rural emergency physicians and trauma patients to access specialists at the trauma center via telemedicine. This aims to save more rural lives by providing expert intervention and resources within the critical first hour after injury. So far, the network and equipment have been installed and tested at three of the four pilot rural hospital sites. Training is ongoing and protocols are nearing completion, with the launch date approaching soon.
