The innovative solution for the recognition of vehicle licence plates and for traffic-flow analysis in metropolitan areas Traffic Scanner is a system which reads and recognises vehicle licence plates in all European countries; its purpose is to detect vehicles that are being searched for and to analyse traffic flows in built-up areas. Traffic Scanner provides a service which complements traditional video-surveillance systems, guaranteeing efficient control of the territory in the case of criminal events. Traditional video-surveillance systems often concentrate on the central part of built-up areas and are not capable of providing sufficiently detailed films for effective reading of vehicle licence plates. Traffic Scanner guarantees a clear, detailed reading of licence numbers in all weather conditions as well as recognition of these numbers. It provides an efficient record of all traffic in circulation in both directions to and from town centres. Traffic Scanner combines two distinct functions in a single system: • Tracing wanted vehicles on the basis of report lists with text message reports • Advanced reporting and statistical analysis of traffic flows The reporting and traffic-flow statistical analysis system mean that it is now possible to analyse and correlate hundreds of millions of transits in order to extrapolate information that has never before been analysed. Since 2013 Traffic Scanner has been integrated in the Milestone XProtect framework as a plugin application.

Reporting and statistical analysis As well as the licence plate recognition function, Traffic Scanner offers the following advanced analysis capabilities: • Photographic detail and video of every single transit • List of wanted vehicles with automatic text messages of licence numbers on wanted lists • Partial/total count of passing vehicles, even by single type of vehicle • Automatic recognition of ADR (Kemler) codes with automatic cataloguing of dangerous substances transported and, as required, with text-message reporting by type of substance • Classification of vehicles on the roads (automobiles, motorbikes, heavy-goods vehicles) • Classification of licence plates by country of origin (all European countries) • Thorough analysis of traffic flows even by single vehicle category • Indication of time spent within built-up area • System can be used by different parties with individualised search parameters • Access to system also available for mobile devices (tablets or smartphones) enabling use of the service also for road patrols • Milestone XProtect Integration Cloud ready Traffic Scanner is Cloud-ready! Its innovative architecture is entirely Cloud based.
