Interpretation of Five Laws of Library
Science in eReading environment
Marketing of Library Services
 Answer is Big Yes as the Libraries and Librarians are becoming more and more
important in the Digital Environment as well as with changed way
 Librarians have great opportunities and bright career prospects as long as they
improve their professional and technological competencies and grab them
 They need to have enthusiasm for life-long learning and new roles, will-power
(because nothing will come easily), assertiveness, creative thinking, self-confidence
and innovativeness
 If the Users can not come to the Library, let the Library reach to them as per their
convenience and the way they want
Is there a need of Libraries and Librarians
in this age?
 Apart from implementing and using emerging library services and products, Marketing
of your Library Resources, Services and Products is perhaps the most important for
increasing the usage and to justify the Return on Assets
 In digital environment, there is a Change in the Role of Libraries and Librarians and it is
inevitable for survival
 Librarians and Information Scientists are needed for packaging and repackaging of
information or for Knowledge Organization and Dissemination, for reference purpose,
to advise the users about the strategy to identify relevant electronic sources, etc.
 Digital libraries or Digital documents are not going to replace the physical existence of
libraries/documents completely
 Change is inevitable – are we to be architects or victims of its outcomes?
 A proper borrowing on how to act: “Think globally, act locally”

THANK YOU
