The document proposes WebTag, a smart tag with an embedded web server that allows bidirectional communication. WebTag aims to emulate the Internet model on a small tag with limited memory and processing. It uses an RFID-based architecture along with sensors and a TCP/IP stack to enable access to tag contents via a web browser. An initial prototype demonstrated compression techniques, security measures, and the ability to remotely capture sensor data over Ethernet. Future work will focus on adding NFC support and further optimizations.
