- 2. • This week – will revisit what RPL is and look at learning outcome 1 (key terms) • Begin the sample portfolio preparation
- 3. • Remember today • What RPL is – when recognition is given for what you already know prior to starting on a programme or module • That there is a process whereby all types of learning can be used to present for credits against a course programme
- 4. • Our task with this module is to understand what RPL is so we can • Develop a sample portfolio as part of its assessment
- 5. Reminder what RPL is Bringing learning gained in life back to academia to be recognised formally now against courses on the national framework The ability to conduct
- 6. In practice this means documenting your learning and presenting what is relevant for assessment. On assessment your learning is compared with a reference point on the framework.
- 7. • Framework has programme outcomes describing knowledge, skills and competence at each level • Programmes on framework must comply with this • Modules within each programme have learning outcomes - this identifies key learning Programme outcomes for each level Modules have learning outcomes

- 9. Learning outcomes are the focus of a prior learning case – you must meet each outcome to be allowed an exemption Present a case against each one showing how you have it covered already

- 16. • Register for module (Registering your intention to be assessed) • Your prior learning case is assessed by the module lecturer • Interim result lets you know if it will be allowed • Result finalised at module exam boards, semester end
