Personal Narrative Of A Paintball Battle
It was a really hot day and summer day for a paintball battle so there were Jayden,Javon,Jason, and
Dad. When the people were anouncing the countdown from ten we were ready for the match to begin
and so when the counter got to one we went into the middle of the map that we were at. When we got
to the middle people were firing at us like it was target practice. Then we couldn t hit no one. The
opponents were really tough and we could barely hit an opponent. It was four versus four match. Until
then Dad and Jason were both out because they both were hit and so They were watching me and
Javon from the spectating tower. While we were searching for opponents, I took a break with Javon,
so we sat on the ground tiredd and hot. Then I saw an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

that I needed. Javon gave me paintbombs for more help their was also chargers as snipers. I used the
paintball sniper to try and snipe the enemy. I missed the first try the second try I was close enough to
get him by a little bit and then the third try I finally got him. But the game was still not over there was
one last opponent left until I heard someone running. I saw the top of his head for just a second and I
knew it was a opponent I could also tell it was a enemy because they were wearing red and we were
wearing blue. So there was one opponent standing and so I went to go hunt him down but I couldn t
find I looked everywhere for but then I turned around and I saw him. He ran away and I chased after
him I tried to shoot him while running after him but I kept missing he was shooting back at me as well
it was really hard to run and shoot. I finally got him and the game ended we won finally everything
was over since the opponents lost I decided to share the win with them the trophy had one hundred
thousand dollar s in the trophy and we shared it with them as well. We were tired, sweaty, and soar but
we were all happy. Later we all went home and took showers becuase we really needed one each of us

Comparing the Flood and Creation in Ovid s Metamorphoses...
Where did man come from? Where did time begin? Who, or what, created
all things? These are questions that mankind has sought to answer from the
beginning of existence as it is known today. Many stories and fables have been
told and passed down from generation to generation, yet two have survived the
test of time and criticism. The Biblical account in Genesis, probably written
by Moses around 1500 B.C., and the story of creation and flood in Ovid s
Metamorphosis, written somewhere between 8 and 17 A.D., have weathered the
criticism and become the most famous. The Genesis account, however, may be the
most prominent of the two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are a few discrepancies in detail as well. The water, in Ovid s,
[holds] up, [holds] in the land, while, in Genesis, the land [separates] the
waters from the waters (549; 1:9). In Metamorphoses the air, land, light and
water (as humans know it) seems to form at one instant when God, or kindlier
Nature, [settles] all (549). In Genesis however, light; heaven; land and
vegetation; stars, sun and moon; fish; animals and man are created on separate
days.
Though these two writings are different in many respects, they are
strikingly similar as well. Both are great and beautiful poems that contiue to
stand the test of time. They are also written for the purpose of explaining or
answering some question, whether that be who, what, or how time and existence,
as it is known today, came to pass.
Both poems give credit for creation to a supreme being or supernatural
beings. Ovid states that the gods, who [make] the changes, will help me or I
hope so with a poem (548). Genesis 1:1 states, In the beginning God [creates]
the heavens and the earth.

An Analysis Of Richard s Abbey
Glimpses of monk societies are vastly present in Richard s (the chronicler) accounts of the Crusade
and through his intimate knowledge of monastic life. Richard s monastery at Winchester and possibly
others had access to ancient writers such as Ovid (3) and Vergil (12) to supplement their works. This
shows a possible increase in fascination for the Roman Empire and its literary works. References to
ancient authors and poets can be found throughout the chronicle when opportunities present
themselves. Though mostly talking about monks that follow the Rule of St. Benedict, he begins by
dedicating the chronicle to a former prior of the monastery who went to the Carthusian order of monks

and yet you know everything that is done in the world as soon as it takes places, and sometimes ... in
advance (2) . This problem plagued many monasteries that set themselves up away from society to
focus on their works, only to have a small city or village be created around them. This can show that
the interaction between monks and laity was not as infrequent as some would believe. This can also
show that some monks were not ones to shy away from the occasional gossip. To this he adds that the
Carthusian monks (if they know of happenings outside of their walls) are not following their rule of
silence (2). Richard again critiques the Carthusians saying that they cut ... [their] charity to strangers
in half, by giving them a blessing without a meal (2). This shows another difference between the two
groups of monks and their attitudes towards the needy. An interesting point to be made is that Richard
says strangers not anyone . This can be taken to mean that the poor of their village were given meals
and blessings while travellers would only receive a blessing without the meal. Another interesting
point is that the monasteries were often used as hospices for

Selection of an Appropriate Investment Plan
Investments the company will engage will consist only of investments with high moral and ethical
character. The management, after a thorough investigation of their background and subsequent
accolades should be of the highest standard of integrity. Any form of misconduct or misdeeds in the
recent past will disqualify the company from investment. Through social investments, the company
can increase resources dedicated to the overall socially conscious initiative and create ways by which
the same money can be reinvested over and over again. Below are three categories which should help

How Natural Law Enforces Human Rights
Natural Law enforces human rights. When we look at abortions laws we see between a legal system
based on the legal theory of natural law the law that comes from God s nature and inherent right and
wrong as He defines it furthermore a legal system based on legal positivism (law is derived from
whatever man says is law no inherent right and wrong). Prior to the turn of the 20th century, legal
philosophy from whence laws were derived in the Western world was based upon a natural law theory.
A belief that there was an inherent right and wrong based on God s principles. In the late 1800 s early
1900 s the legal philosophy began to shift and is now predominantly based upon legal positivism
which says that law is only right or wrong because man has made it so. Natural law is based on the
character of God; thus, like Him, it does not change as man changes.
The importance of how natural law enforces human rights
Natural Law shapes conduct, forces specific conduct, and is designed by God to influence moral
behavior. Natural law imposes morality which enforces the protection of human rights. Natural law
gives a person the free will to do whatever they please as long as that free will does not harm others or
violates the Natural laws created by God. Nonetheless, God is the source of Natural Law with an
expression of moral order through the word of God. Society and government were not central
conceptions in the life of a people governed by God through his prophets,

Who Is Miley Cyrus A Hero
Destiny Hope Cyrus, more commonly known as Miley Cyrus, is a singer, actress, and songwriter.
Born in Nashville, Tennessee in 1992, she grew up on a farm with her many siblings. She is the
daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus, a famous country singer. Miley s professional career began at the early
age of 9, when she appeared on her father s television series. Shortly after, Miley landed the main role
as Hannah Montanta in Disney Channel s show, Hannah Montana. Ironically, Billy Ray Cyrus was

especially among millions of pre teen and teenage girls worldwide. In 2006, she launched her first of

There are different characters in this play that carry this theme of revenge, Abigail being one in

explain it to Abigail. It also shows why Parris wants revenge, as it explains that some of the villagers
literally do not like him. The individual on the other hand who Parris seeks his settling of scores with
is John Proctor, as he does not respect Parris as a reverend. Parris s dislike towards Proctor clearly is
empathised in act three, which is set in the courtroom. Made known by Parris s subtle comments about
Proctor, such like Beware this man, your Excellency, this man is mischief and He s come to overthrow
the court, your Honour. Both these comments convey the idea that Parris is strongly trying to get his
thoughts about Proctor across. This proposal shows through the words Excellency and Honour that
Parris is trying to get the attention of Judge Hathorne as he directs theses comments straight to him.
Parris s revenge towards Proctor is clear once he expresses that John is not a good Christian, as he
does not attain church regularly. This observation, which Parris has made, is one of the main reasons
to why Parris reacts to Proctor in the ways he does. This revenge is not as strong as Abigail s and
Proctor s, although it is

for mixing the stimulant with the depressant is an attempt to maximize the euphoric effects of both
drugs while supposedly reducing the chance of anxiety attributed to stimulants or sedation attributed

Technology And Digital Storage Space
For years, traffic cameras have been a mainstay of public roads and highways without engendering
significant public concern. As long as the most significant fear was a speeding ticket in the low three
figures, the technology of mounting a moving or stationary camera with the ability to detect and
capture automobile license plates was allowed to live in peace. Since the year 2000, however, and in
part due to the falling costs of the technology and digital storage space , the United States has seen a
drastic increase in the numbers of the traffic camera s mechanically similar cousin, the Automated
License Plate Reader ( ALPR ). An ALPR system is simply the coupling of a normal high speed traffic
camera and software to store, analyze and crosscheck the data gathered with external databases. A
2011 survey by PERF found that 71% of responding agencies reporting using ALPR, and 85% plan to
either begin or expand usage over the next five years. (IACP but find primary source). The key
difference between the two is how the data is stored and used. ALPR technology is most efficient
when data from several millions of these cameras is retained and aggregated into massive databases
that can then be queried on demand by law enforcement personnel and matched against lists of
vehicles of interest, colloquially called hot lists . This approach offers innumerable advantages over
the contemporaneous point and check approach of traditional traffic cameras, which most often delete

Analysis Of The Movie Sing
Money is the best motivator in the country. In the movie Sing it shows how using a cash reward will
generate more participants in the talent show. The movie is about a koala, Mr. Moon, who owns a
failing theatre. In an attempt to generate more revenue to pay off his bank debts he decides to host a
singing competition and offers a prize of one thousand dollars to the winner. His secretary accidently
puts one hundred thousand dollars on the fliers. Before they could be looked over, the fliers fell out of
the window and landed all around town. The next day a ton of auditioners showed up. When the one
hundred thousand dollar reward is brought up Mr. Moon doesn t correct them with the right amount
since it was because of the enormous cash prize that so many participants came out. Though Sing is a
cartoon movie, there are many different versions of this type of show in real life such as American
Idol. Fear factor is another example of an American television show that portrays the crazy things
people will do for money. This movie shows how important money is by the characterization and
setting; through this it reflects America s love for money. How the characters come off and their
backgrounds show that the money was the reason they decided to try for their dreams. This is
particularly true for two characters, Rosita the pig and Johnny the gorilla. Rosita is portrayed as a
common housewife with two dozen or more piglets running around her home. Throughout the movie

As many people are taught to have a positive outlook, it might not be until one practices meditative
rituals that one realizes that there are aspects of life where possible pleasure is absent. It is also
important to recognize that suffering is an unavoidable result of changes in life. Anything that brings
joy must end at some time and that ending will inevitably bring pain. Suffering can be sorted into
three categories: Duhkha duhkha, vipariṇāma duḥkha, and saṃskāraduḥkha. Duhkha duhkha is about
physical suffering such as sickness, injury, death, etc. These are the pains that Buddha first saw when
he left his palace, before seeking enlightenment. Vipariṇāma duḥkha refers to the suffering that results
in change. Since the world is constantly changing, one can never be certain as to their happiness for
the next day, and the day after that. This uncertainty of happiness is an absence of pleasure in and of
itself. Saṃskāraduḥkha, in common terms, can be summed up as all good things come to an end .
Everything that is or has been has an end. Everything must return to the various states it was before it
was formed. For example, no matter what sort of life a human being experienced, in the end all
humans face death and the bodies disassemble into the various components it is made of. The body
decays and breaks down into the materials that form it such as carbon, minerals, and vitamins.

An aquifer is a permeable rock underground that bears water, this water can be collected through wells

Cruise Ship s And The Canadian Arctic Essay
Cruise Ship s and the Canadian Arctic
Cruise ship tourism is on the rise, by the end of 2016 nearly 24 million people will have taken a cruise
( Cruise Industry Outlook, 2016). The cruise ship industry has experience a 68% increase in demand
since the mid 2000 s. Therefore, it is not surprising then, that the cruise ship industry had an global
economic impact of 119.9 billion in 2014 ( Cruise Industry Outlook, 2016). As more individuals turn
to cruises to fulfill their vacation needs, and arctic cruises are gaining in popularity due to melting sea
ice caused by climate change the issue of sustainability must be discussed, particularly the
environmental, economic and cultural impact that these enormous floating hotels will undoubtedly
have on the people and environment of Canada s Arctic.
The 1960 s marked the beginning of cruise tourism ( Brida, et.al, 2013). However, it wasn t until the
70 s and 80 s that the cruise industry began to experience moderate growth. All of this changed
however in 90 s when cruise tourism took root in Europe, Asia and Oceania and 3.8 million people
worldwide embarked on ocean adventures ( Brida, et.al, 2013). Although the industry has experienced
continual growth since the 90 s, and cruises are consistently ranked as one of the top preferred
vacation type by holiday goers, the cruise tourism industry is still relatively small in relation to other
forms of international tourism (Brida, et.al, 2013).

Conflict Of Self In John Calvin, The Accusative Case
John Calvin s Conflict of Self
John Calvin, the Accusative Case as he was called by friends, was known for being a stern and
humorless theologian and in truth he was, but there was more to him than just that. Throughout his
career, he was staunch in the belief of predetermination above all other thought. Unlike Luther, Calvin
had not begun life with the mindset of being a preacher, but he arguably had just as much, if not more
of an impact as a reformer. More humanist than previous reformers, but not truly that either, Calvin
existed in a state of conflict. Calvin was educated as a French Humanist with a less than humanist
view of predestination that culminated in an influential, but unfulfilled life.
Calvin had a different beginning to that of most reformists, which lent him a unique perspective.
According to Calvin his father had destined me for the study of theology. But afterwards, when he
considered that the legal profession commonly raised those who followed it to wealth , but in truth he
could not initially join the church due to the very same father embezzling money. Whether this
original desire left Calvin with a sense of unfulfilled destiny is uncertain, ... Show more content on

explore risk taking, they take the opportunity to grow within themselves, and test the extent of their
newfound values, which result in the character fostering a stronger sense of self identity.
Accepting the opportunity to experience risk allows the individual to push themselves, despite the
possibility of danger towards oneself. In the Hobbit, the character Bilbo demonstrates risk taking most
clearly when he attempts to steal a troll s wallet after the dwarves ordered him to investigate a strange
light coming from within the forest (pg. 35). Bilbo concludes that he must prove himself to the
dwarves. To show his capability as a burglar, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Bilbo feels pity for Gollum, and decides not to kill him, he takes risks, as leaping over Gollum
may fail, causing Bilbo to fall prey to Gollum. In this situation, Bilbo pushes himself to spare Gollum
and make daring decisions, where Bilbo is not aware of the consequences. Therefore Bilbo signifies
risk taking when sparing Gollum, despite the unpredictable consequences that result from his
decisions. Lastly, Bilbo demonstrates pushing himself to take risks, despite the danger, is during when
Bilbo is chosen to survey inside the Lonely Mountain, Smaug s citadel (pg. 198 201). Bilbo
understands that he must uphold his position as a burglar, and be the first to enter the Lonely
Mountain, where Smaug inhabits. When Bilbo enters Smaug s lair, is a primary example of Bilbo s
risk taking, despite the prominent danger. Bilbo exploring Smaug s stronghold is the climax of danger
during The Hobbit. During this situation, Bilbo pushes himself greatly, to explore inside the Lonely
Mountain, in order to manifest his capability as a burglar, Bilbo surpasses his ability to take risks and
discovers the extent of his risk taking abilities. He ultimately finds greater courage within himself, as a
result of pushing himself to take risks. Bilbo knows of Smaug, who represents the great danger within
the mountains. He takes this opportunity to exceed his risk taking skills. Therefore Bilbo takes risks
by upholding his burglar responsibilities, despite facing the

football, bowling, cricket, and large wheeled bicycle racing took place at the DAC. The first club
began to go downward because it did not offer many social events for members to enjoy. Then became

The DAC is located on Madison Street in the heart of Detroit. The founders of the DAC went to
Albert Kahn to be the architect. Twenty two bidders nationwide bided on this project. The board
members wanted the project to be all Detroit from start to finish, even if that meant going higher than
the lowest bidder. The contract was awarded to Vinton Company of Detroit for over $600,000. Over
forty subcontractors and supplier companies joined in on the project. Kahn was a successful architect
of the automobile companies of the city of Detroit. His ideas are inspired from Italian Renaissance
palaces in Florence, Italy. They chose Kahn because he had a plan of open interiors and the use of
reinforced concrete, and exterior of brick and stone. It took him months to design the layout of the
building which ended up being six floors plus two mezzanine levels. The project required 1,350 tons
of structural frame steelwork. The main entrance was to be off Madison Street. The face of the
building was set to be made of Bedford limestone. When you walked through the main doors you
enter the lobby which embedded the Italian Renaissance feel with its walls wainscoted to the ceiling
with large panels of American Walnut and a fireplace made of Hauteville marble, and the floors with
Tennessee marble. The third level offered a modern Turkish bath

Good or Bad Customer Service Essay
A large part of being a good service provider is ensuring customer convenience.
Study findings show that strong leadership systems focus on customers, motivate employees, and
implement their customer service vision. They also focus great attention on gathering the information
needed to track customer satisfaction, and employees overall performance. Customer service should
be designed and delivered seamlessly from the customer s point of view. Customer driven operations
lead to success. Decentralized, uncoordinated customer service provision makes for a most frustrating

I took my family to our local McDonalds for lunch a week ago (after 1 pm) and waited in line for over
25 minutes with only 4 other customers in line before us. Of the two cash registers originally open,
one lady (unable to read name covered by apron) left without informing the people in line directly in
front of her that she was closing. The assistant manager (I assume since he had no name tag but was
wearing a striped shirt (everyone else was wearing green shirts)) was called to the front 4 times to
correct erroneous orders, and finally opened another register. Unfortunately, he waited on us. We
ordered salad shakers that ended up being (at best) warm. He needed to return to the register for each
item, and even then had the order messed up. He literally threw my children s orders of French fries
on the tray as well as their burgers. While we were waiting, I watched one rather slovenly worker
(with a large grease stain and cheese on his BACK) throw a quot;to go quot; bag and complain to the
people in the back about being busy. There appeared to be more than enough people working, but
planning and management were severely lacking.
I recently visited another McDonalds in my area with my kids and my little cousin, then I have

Second Language Acquisition Essay
Second language acquisition has long been the focus of linguists and researchers in the teaching field.
It highlights the process and theories of acquiring second languages among learners. Second language
acquisition seeks to understand the development of second language acquisition among second
language learners. Mastering the knowledge of second language acquisition helps teachers to
successfully provide effective teaching for students. Undeniably, knowledge on second language
acquisition is very much related to effective teaching of second languages. Many linguists and teacher
educators believe that all language teachers should be equipped with knowledge of second language
acquisition to help them teach effectively. Additionally, most teacher training programmers have
incorporated second language acquisition as a compulsory course to make sure that all future language
teachers are well equipped with enough knowledge to teach in classroom.
Then again, the relationship between second language acquisition and effective second language
teaching is still being discussed. Hence, this paper aims to explain ways in which knowledge of
second language acquisition helps language teachers to provide a better and effective second language
teaching in classrooms by highlighting three main ideas; knowledge of second language acquisition
helps teachers to understand the different needs of students, to design a good second language course
and effective teaching method for learners, and to

Government has taking initiative to bring array of programmes and funding offers for technological

in turn help entrepreneurs to start up new business where risk is high without hesitation as fear of
failure is reduced with government and social culture support.
Since traditional large employers including the government and the old economy player may find it
difficult to sustain this level of employment in future, it is entrepreneurs who will create these new
jobs and opportunities.
Hence, this issue has brought the attention of government and major player in the economy.

Reflective Conflict
Conflicts are present in our everyday lives, some big and some small. The degree to which they
impact our relationships largely depends on who is involved and what each party s expectations are.
Conflicts can either go onto a constructive or destructive path depending on how the parties involved
handle the given situation or problem. I am currently experiencing a destructive conflict with two of
my roommates and that is what I will be focusing on for this critical analysis paper. Folger, Poole, and
Stutman (2013), define conflict as, the interaction of interdependent people who perceive
incompatibility and the possibility of inference from others as a result of this incompatibility (p. 4).
Using this definition, I will break down my current conflict in order to describe and analyze it using a
variety of concepts and theories. I live in a suite on campus with four other people which consists of
myself, my friend whom I have known since freshman year, her boyfriend, and two other girls who we
did not know prior to moving in. Within a few weeks of being here, my friend blew something very
minor that happened with one of the other girls out of proportion. Threatening text messages were sent
which led to loud, in person arguments. These instances led to a meeting with our RA, and later, a
meeting with the Hall Director and the RA because things escalated and got out of hand. More
problems have arisen, but this time between my friend, her boyfriend, and myself. A few

The Revolution Of The Soviet Revolution
The October Revolution of 1917 in Russia saw the rise of the Bolsheviks to power where they
dreamed of a utopian Russia, which would be achieved through the transformation of Soviet men and
women. In particular, women were a major focus of the Bolsheviks utopian dream because they
wanted to end the oppression of women and in doing, so they implemented many policies after the
revolution in 1917 like the Zhenotdel that was a women s section in the Bolshevik party made to
advance women s interests, the legalization of abortions and contraceptives, and the removal of the
bourgeoisie family institution. However, after Vladimir Lenin s death in 1924, Joseph Stalin came to

The argument that the Soviet Union promoted population growth through policies during the 1930s
can be proven valid in David Hoffman s journal, Mothers in the Motherland: Stalinist Pronatalism in
its pan European Context, where he argues that illegalizing abortions/contraceptives in the Soviet
Union was vital for the expansion of industrial labour because it provided a larger labour pool for
workers in factories. The purpose of Stalin retreating from the revolutionary values in 1917 by making
abortions/contraceptives illegal once again and promoting motherhood, was so that birthrates would
increase and mothers would raise children to become strong proletariat workers that would enter the
workforce to further the first five year plan of rapidly industrializing the Soviet Union. The Soviet
Union also instituted more money to maternity homes, nurseries, and granted women a 2,000 rubble
annual bonus for any extra children they had after the sixth one. By promoting motherhood through
government institutions and baby bonuses it was supposed to encouraged women to have more
children and supplied the Soviets with more future workers so rapid industrialization could take place
and the first five year plan could be accomplished. The poster, Soldier of the Red Army Save us! ,
shows that the Soviets highly propagandized motherhood because as men went off to fight in World
War II, the women were expected to stay at home

Marina Lambrini Diamandis Research Paper
Marina Lambrini Diamandis was born on the tenth of October in 1985 in Brynmawr, Wales, though
she grew up in a small town named Pandy. She only had one sibling; an older sister. Most of her
inspiration came from her childhood music teacher who told her she could she could do anything.
Diamandis went to the University of East London to study music for a year, and then transferred to
Middlesex University for a classic composition course, where she dropped out two months in. While
Marina was a teen, she spent a lot of time going to auditions, which all turned out to be unsuccessful.
She had chances to perform in The Lion King, and be in a boy band, but she ended up falling ill so she
ultimately could not audition for either. Her stage name, Marina and the Diamonds was created in
2005. Diamandis did not have any band members, so she came to the conclusion that Diamonds stood

Power Systems Of Electric Vehicles
I. INTRODUCTION Since the industrial revolution started, the acceleration of technology
development never stopped. However, with the development of new technologies, environment is
suffering the consequences. The rate of Carbon dioxide is increasing rapidly. To mitigate this
pollution, the concept of electric vehicle arose. The electric vehicles contribute in reducing the carbon
dioxide emissions[1]. Thus, the use of electric vehicles is getting more popular as time goes by. As a
result of that, electric vehicles must be integrated to the electric grid. They will be treated as electric
loads, which means that all concepts of power system will be applied on them. Therefore, when
electric vehicles are charged, they will cause voltage drop on the distribution feeders. Hence, the
presence of voltage regulators might change the voltage response of the system. II. VOLTAGE
REGULATION OVERVIEW. In power Systems Distribution, voltage regulation is an important
concept. It deals with ways to maintain a good voltage profile delivered to the customers. The voltage
level at the customer node has to be maintained within a specified range. There are many standards
that determine customer s voltage range. Some standards assume a variation of +10% or 10%.
However, it is determined by the utility based on their circumstances. III. VOLTAGE REGULATION
METHODS The concept of voltage regulation associated with the electrical distribution system is

The Effects Of Classical Music On Music
What is defined as good or real music? How does an individual come to define that? Many would say
that classical music is real music since it is the basis of music that is created today and it has lasted
through time. It is still heard today, one of the first types of music to last. Others may strongly
disagree; even though it has stood the test of time what actually makes this the sole definition of good
music? It doesn t, there really is not a true universal definition. There are multiple views on what is
considered real or good and that is what needs to be brought to attention, that there is not a single
wrong or right in this field. Merriam Webster defines good as adequate or satisfactory ( Good ). There
are billions of different definitions of good music because each definition of the music found to be
satisfactory is created by a different individual. Music taste is largely based on opinion and where that
opinion comes from is what is important. Everyone is different, so psychologically some people find
one type of music more appealing over another, this taste is also influenced by the environment
someone grows up in.
Being able to form opinions is an important aspect of life that humans develop as they age. Of course
not everyone will share the same views, but that is what makes everyone unique. There are countless
types of music in the world, and everyone is affected by music in one way or another. Once opinions
on music are formed, however, there

Corruption In The Great Gatsby
The American Dream is the belief that you can become prosperous and successful through dedication

the ugly sides of the American dream to communicate with the reader and show the darker side of the
time period and the negatives of The American Dream behind the glamour and glitz, some of which
we can even link to today s society. His idea in The Great Gatsby however may have been drafted

Both are portrayed to be desolate places. The Village of Fish consists literally of 12 men and nothing
more. Both settings have a train that runs through them. The significance of this could be that no
journey is without struggle, suffering and sometimes even failure. People set out on a journey to
achieve greatness, but fail and end up in a place such as the Valley of Ashes. There are great
differences though between these two settings. One prominent one is that The Village of Fish is
introduced in great detail to us in chapter two, and aside from a brief mention later on, is ignored the
rest of the tale. The Valley of Ashes however is an important setting. It connects New York to East and
West Egg and is quite an important setting. It is where we first meet Myrtle, Tom s mistress. It is also
where her gruesome demise occurs, so significant events occur here. It is a huge contrast to the Village

Illustrating Freedom and Responsibility as an Opposing...
In Kate Chopin s The Awakening, the author frames the notions of freedom and responsibility by
contrasting them within an opposing dichotomy portrayed through the main character, Edna Pontellier,
and through her subconscious denial of Creole responsibility while attaining freedom for her body,
mind, and soul. Within this dichotomy the notions change inversely: the more freedom that is
exercised by Edna because of unknown, and undisclosed, subconscious analysis deep in her mind, her
sense of Creole responsibilities ebb proportionately. As these opposing forces ebb and flow, Chopin
shows freedom in its basic and natural light as being instinctive and as the normal state of a human
being, evidenced by Edna Pontellier s actions flowing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But oddly, Chopin does not present this contrast of rebellion as a juxtaposition of the concepts of
responsibility versus irresponsibility; instead, she lets defiance take its place, as seen here when

settled herself more securely in the hammock. She perceived that her will had blazed up, stubborn and

husband had ever spoken to her like that before, and if she had submitted to his command. Of course
she had; she remembered that she had. But she could not realize why or how she could have yielded,

Immediately, she says, Leonce, go to bed, ... I mean to stay out here. I don t wish to go in, and I don t

F. A. Kunz s Three Reasons For The Existence Of The Senate
Professor F.A. Kunz described his three personal reasons for the Senates existence: The committees
job is to give a skilled and leisurely consideration to the technical provisions of a bill to scrutinize
public accounts and departmental estimates; and to inquire. However, Kunz s first requirement of the
senate is no longer relevant, as legislative drafting skills have dramatically improved since he wrote
this in 1965. Additionally, Kudz s second point is that the senate must scrutinize public accounts and

No matter what sort of business or organisation you re involved with there s always the possibility of
an accident or damage to someone s health. All work exposes people to hazards be they: Dangerous

This is why the current health and safety regulations and legislation are vitally important to both

  • 2. Personal Narrative Of A Paintball Battle It was a really hot day and summer day for a paintball battle so there were Jayden,Javon,Jason, and Dad. When the people were anouncing the countdown from ten we were ready for the match to begin and so when the counter got to one we went into the middle of the map that we were at. When we got to the middle people were firing at us like it was target practice. Then we couldn t hit no one. The opponents were really tough and we could barely hit an opponent. It was four versus four match. Until then Dad and Jason were both out because they both were hit and so They were watching me and Javon from the spectating tower. But the game was still not over there was one last opponent left until I heard someone running. I saw the top of his head for just a second and I knew it was a opponent I could also tell it was a enemy because they were wearing red and we were wearing blue. So there was one opponent standing and so I went to go hunt him down but I couldn t find I looked everywhere for but then I turned around and I saw him. He ran away and I chased after him I tried to shoot him while running after him but I kept missing he was shooting back at me as well it was really hard to run and shoot. I finally got him and the game ended we won finally everything was over since the opponents lost I decided to share the win with them the trophy had one hundred thousand dollar s in the trophy and we shared it with them as well. Consider 5 processes that need to agree on their joint state. To protect against Byzantine failures, the processes adopted a protocol as described in the slides, in particular, each process broadcasts its own state to all others, assembles the state received from others, and then broadcasts its view of the full state to all others. Suppose that, after this, process 1 receives the information provided below. Identify the process(es) that have Byzantine failure, if any, based on this data. Briefly justify your answer. From 2 got (3,4,1,5,8) From 3 got (3,3,1,6,8) From 4 got (3,1,1,5,8) From 5 got (3,2,1,5,8) At this point Process 1 has received all the collected data from all the other processes. We can see that all processes received 3 from process 1. All Processes received a different number from process 2, making it a possible Byzantine failure. From process 3, all processes received 1. From process 4, majority received 5 from process 4, except process 3, which received a 6, making process 4 a possible Byzantine failure. All processes received 8 from Process 5. These are questions that mankind has sought to answer from the beginning of existence as it is known today. Many stories and fables have been told and passed down from generation to generation, yet two have survived the test of time and criticism. The Biblical account in Genesis, probably written by Moses around 1500 B.C., and the story of creation and flood in Ovid s Metamorphosis, written somewhere between 8 and 17 A.D., have weathered the criticism and become the most famous. • 7. An Analysis Of Richard s Abbey Glimpses of monk societies are vastly present in Richard s (the chronicler) accounts of the Crusade and through his intimate knowledge of monastic life. Richard s monastery at Winchester and possibly others had access to ancient writers such as Ovid (3) and Vergil (12) to supplement their works. This shows a possible increase in fascination for the Roman Empire and its literary works. References to ancient authors and poets can be found throughout the chronicle when opportunities present themselves. Though mostly talking about monks that follow the Rule of St. Benedict, he begins by dedicating the chronicle to a former prior of the monastery who went to the Carthusian order of monks (1). This can show that some monks changed not only their ... This problem plagued many monasteries that set themselves up away from society to focus on their works, only to have a small city or village be created around them. This can show that the interaction between monks and laity was not as infrequent as some would believe. This can also show that some monks were not ones to shy away from the occasional gossip. To this he adds that the Carthusian monks (if they know of happenings outside of their walls) are not following their rule of silence (2). Richard again critiques the Carthusians saying that they cut ... [their] charity to strangers in half, by giving them a blessing without a meal (2). This shows another difference between the two groups of monks and their attitudes towards the needy. An interesting point to be made is that Richard says strangers not anyone . This can be taken to mean that the poor of their village were given meals and blessings while travellers would only receive a blessing without the meal. Another interesting point is that the monasteries were often used as hospices for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When we look at abortions laws we see between a legal system based on the legal theory of natural law the law that comes from God s nature and inherent right and wrong as He defines it furthermore a legal system based on legal positivism (law is derived from whatever man says is law no inherent right and wrong). Prior to the turn of the 20th century, legal philosophy from whence laws were derived in the Western world was based upon a natural law theory. A belief that there was an inherent right and wrong based on God s principles. In the late 1800 s early 1900 s the legal philosophy began to shift and is now predominantly based upon legal positivism which says that law is only right or wrong because man has made it so. Natural law is based on the character of God; thus, like Him, it does not change as man changes. The importance of how natural law enforces human rights Natural Law shapes conduct, forces specific conduct, and is designed by God to influence moral behavior. Natural law imposes morality which enforces the protection of human rights. Natural law gives a person the free will to do whatever they please as long as that free will does not harm others or violates the Natural laws created by God. The individual on the other hand who Parris seeks his settling of scores with is John Proctor, as he does not respect Parris as a reverend. Parris s dislike towards Proctor clearly is empathised in act three, which is set in the courtroom. Made known by Parris s subtle comments about Proctor, such like Beware this man, your Excellency, this man is mischief and He s come to overthrow the court, your Honour. Both these comments convey the idea that Parris is strongly trying to get his thoughts about Proctor across. Parris s revenge towards Proctor is clear once he expresses that John is not a good Christian, as he does not attain church regularly. The concoction was extremely popular at the time of Belushi s death, however Belushi is not the only well known celebrity to have died of a Speedball mixture. Ironically enough, Chris Farley, one of the other most famous cast members of Saturday Night Live and a lifetime admirer of Belushi, died of a speedball mixture of cocaine and morphine sulfate in 1997. The chosen stimulant and depressant are premixed before being taken intravenously. The combination can also be taken through inhaling or snorting the two powders together, but the intravenous version is considered more common. Because of the nature of both chemicals used in the drug mixture, a speedball has an extremely high risk of physical dependence and can cause powerful withdrawal symptoms. The reason for mixing the stimulant with the depressant is an attempt to maximize the euphoric effects of both drugs while supposedly reducing the chance of anxiety attributed to stimulants or sedation attributed to depressants. As long as the most significant fear was a speeding ticket in the low three figures, the technology of mounting a moving or stationary camera with the ability to detect and capture automobile license plates was allowed to live in peace. Since the year 2000, however, and in part due to the falling costs of the technology and digital storage space , the United States has seen a drastic increase in the numbers of the traffic camera s mechanically similar cousin, the Automated License Plate Reader ( ALPR ). An ALPR system is simply the coupling of a normal high speed traffic camera and software to store, analyze and crosscheck the data gathered with external databases. A 2011 survey by PERF found that 71% of responding agencies reporting using ALPR, and 85% plan to either begin or expand usage over the next five years. (IACP but find primary source). The key difference between the two is how the data is stored and used. ALPR technology is most efficient when data from several millions of these cameras is retained and aggregated into massive databases that can then be queried on demand by law enforcement personnel and matched against lists of vehicles of interest, colloquially called hot lists . This approach offers innumerable advantages over the contemporaneous point and check approach of traditional traffic cameras, which most often delete recorded ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. Analysis Of The Movie Sing Money is the best motivator in the country. In the movie Sing it shows how using a cash reward will generate more participants in the talent show. The movie is about a koala, Mr. Moon, who owns a failing theatre. In an attempt to generate more revenue to pay off his bank debts he decides to host a singing competition and offers a prize of one thousand dollars to the winner. His secretary accidently puts one hundred thousand dollars on the fliers. Before they could be looked over, the fliers fell out of the window and landed all around town. The next day a ton of auditioners showed up. When the one hundred thousand dollar reward is brought up Mr. Moon doesn t correct them with the right amount since it was because of the enormous cash prize that so many participants came out. Though Sing is a cartoon movie, there are many different versions of this type of show in real life such as American Idol. Fear factor is another example of an American television show that portrays the crazy things people will do for money. As many people are taught to have a positive outlook, it might not be until one practices meditative rituals that one realizes that there are aspects of life where possible pleasure is absent. It is also important to recognize that suffering is an unavoidable result of changes in life. Anything that brings joy must end at some time and that ending will inevitably bring pain. Suffering can be sorted into three categories: Duhkha duhkha, vipariṇāma duḥkha, and saṃskāraduḥkha. Duhkha duhkha is about physical suffering such as sickness, injury, death, etc. These are the pains that Buddha first saw when he left his palace, before seeking enlightenment. Vipariṇāma duḥkha refers to the suffering that results in change. Since the world is constantly changing, one can never be certain as to their happiness for the next day, and the day after that. This uncertainty of happiness is an absence of pleasure in and of itself. Saṃskāraduḥkha, in common terms, can be summed up as all good things come to an end . Everything that is or has been has an end. Everything must return to the various states it was before it was formed. For example, no matter what sort of life a human being experienced, in the end all humans face death and the bodies disassemble into the various components it is made of. The body decays and breaks down into the materials that form it such as carbon, minerals, and vitamins. The Second ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Within Texas there are 23 different aquifers, but for Central Texas we tend to favor Edwards Aquifer and due to this many problems have arisen for the aquifer and its inhabitants. We will first discuss the history of Edwards Aquifer, the reasons behind the current issue concerning the aquifer including what species are endangered and why, and lastly what solutions are being set forth. Conflict Of Self In John Calvin, The Accusative Case John Calvin s Conflict of Self John Calvin, the Accusative Case as he was called by friends, was known for being a stern and humorless theologian and in truth he was, but there was more to him than just that. Throughout his career, he was staunch in the belief of predetermination above all other thought. Unlike Luther, Calvin had not begun life with the mindset of being a preacher, but he arguably had just as much, if not more of an impact as a reformer. More humanist than previous reformers, but not truly that either, Calvin existed in a state of conflict. Calvin was educated as a French Humanist with a less than humanist view of predestination that culminated in an influential, but unfulfilled life. Calvin had a different beginning to that of most reformists, which lent him a unique perspective. According to Calvin his father had destined me for the study of theology. Accepting the opportunity to experience risk allows the individual to push themselves, despite the possibility of danger towards oneself. In the Hobbit, the character Bilbo demonstrates risk taking most clearly when he attempts to steal a troll s wallet after the dwarves ordered him to investigate a strange light coming from within the forest (pg. 35). However, with the development of new technologies, environment is suffering the consequences. The rate of Carbon dioxide is increasing rapidly. To mitigate this pollution, the concept of electric vehicle arose. The electric vehicles contribute in reducing the carbon dioxide emissions[1]. Thus, the use of electric vehicles is getting more popular as time goes by. As a result of that, electric vehicles must be integrated to the electric grid. They will be treated as electric loads, which means that all concepts of power system will be applied on them. Therefore, when electric vehicles are charged, they will cause voltage drop on the distribution feeders. Hence, the presence of voltage regulators might change the voltage response of the system. II. Many would say that classical music is real music since it is the basis of music that is created today and it has lasted through time. It is still heard today, one of the first types of music to last. Others may strongly disagree; even though it has stood the test of time what actually makes this the sole definition of good music? It doesn t, there really is not a true universal definition. There are multiple views on what is considered real or good and that is what needs to be brought to attention, that there is not a single wrong or right in this field. Merriam Webster defines good as adequate or satisfactory ( Good ). There are billions of different definitions of good music because each definition of the music found to be satisfactory is created by a different individual. Music taste is largely based on opinion and where that opinion comes from is what is important. Everyone is different, so psychologically some people find one type of music more appealing over another, this taste is also influenced by the environment someone grows up in. Being able to form opinions is an important aspect of life that humans develop as they age. Of course not everyone will share the same views, but that is what makes everyone unique. The significance of this could be that no journey is without struggle, suffering and sometimes even failure. People set out on a journey to achieve greatness, but fail and end up in a place such as the Valley of Ashes. There are great differences though between these two settings. One prominent one is that The Village of Fish is introduced in great detail to us in chapter two, and aside from a brief mention later on, is ignored the rest of the tale. The Valley of Ashes however is an important setting. It connects New York to East and West Egg and is quite an important setting. It is where we first meet Myrtle, Tom s mistress. It is also where her gruesome demise occurs, so significant events occur here. It is a huge contrast to the Village of Fish, which doesn t seem very important in Tales of the Jazz Age . It seemed like it was going to be important, as it was presented in such detail with amazing descriptions, but it was then ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. Illustrating Freedom and Responsibility as an Opposing... In Kate Chopin s The Awakening, the author frames the notions of freedom and responsibility by contrasting them within an opposing dichotomy portrayed through the main character, Edna Pontellier, and through her subconscious denial of Creole responsibility while attaining freedom for her body, mind, and soul. Within this dichotomy the notions change inversely: the more freedom that is exercised by Edna because of unknown, and undisclosed, subconscious analysis deep in her mind, her sense of Creole responsibilities ebb proportionately. As these opposing forces ebb and flow, Chopin shows freedom in its basic and natural light as being instinctive and as the normal state of a human being, evidenced by Edna Pontellier s actions flowing ... But oddly, Chopin does not present this contrast of rebellion as a juxtaposition of the concepts of responsibility versus irresponsibility; instead, she lets defiance take its place, as seen here when Leonce perceives Edna s violation of a social norm: This is more than folly, he blurted out. I can t permit you to stay out here all night. You must come in the house instantly. [Leonce](Kindle location 584 600). In the paragraph which follows, she turns the tables neatly: With a writhing motion she settled herself more securely in the hammock. She perceived that her will had blazed up, stubborn and resistant. She could not at that moment have done other than denied and resisted. She wondered if her husband had ever spoken to her like that before, and if she had submitted to his command. Of course she had; she remembered that she had. But she could not realize why or how she could have yielded, feeling as she did then (Kindle location 588). Immediately, she says, Leonce, go to bed, ... I mean to stay out here. I don t wish to go in, and I don t intend to. Don t speak to me like that again; I shall not answer you [Edna] (Kindle location 589). It is here that she anchors her freedom. Her role as an obedient Creole wife has ended. The totality of her transformation to a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. F. A. Kunz s Three Reasons For The Existence Of The Senate Professor F.A. Kunz described his three personal reasons for the Senates existence: The committees job is to give a skilled and leisurely consideration to the technical provisions of a bill to scrutinize public accounts and departmental estimates; and to inquire. However, Kunz s first requirement of the senate is no longer relevant, as legislative drafting skills have dramatically improved since he wrote this in 1965. Additionally, Kudz s second point is that the senate must scrutinize public accounts and departmental estimates, however the senate, and the entire parliament as a whole is not doing an adequate job in regards to this. The parliament has been becoming increasingly unaware of government spending, and has now become a ceremonial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Craig Scott, an MP for the NDP put the motion in front of the house, claiming the senate was useless and senators appear in the upper chamber and average of 56 days a year . Craig Scott also discusses how there are good senators, however, these senators agree that the senate is a flawed body that blocks bills from coming into the house of commons. The purposed bill was defeated when both the Liberals and Conservatives voted against it. This lead to harsh criticism from the NDP party towards the conservatives, and Stephen Harper. The NDP points to the fact that Stephen Harper promised to never point unelected senators, yet he has broken that promise and appointed 58 unelected senators.Harper appointing 58 senators has essentially made the Senate a conservative body payed by the taxpayer.
