Accessibility policy

At the Office of the New York State Attorney General (OAG), we encourage New Yorkers to participate in our services, programs, and activities. If you have a disability that makes it difficult for you to participate in an OAG event, we may be able to provide help. 

Antidiscrimination policy. We do not discriminate against anyone on the basis of disability. Our antidiscrimination policy, which complies with state and federal laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA). This policy applies to all OAG services, programs, and activities. 

Tools for effective communication. If your disability makes it difficult for you to participate in an OAG event, we will generally provide you with appropriate aids and services for effective communication, at your request. We offer these aids and services to ensure that you have the opportunity to participate in our programs, including but not limited to qualified American Sign Language interpreters, documents in Braille, and other aids. 

Modifications to policies and procedures. We make reasonable modifications to our policies and programs to ensure that you, as a person with a disability, have an equal opportunity to enjoy all OAG programs, services, and activities.

No charge for reasonable accommodations. We will not charge you, as an individual or group with disabilities, for aids, services or reasonable modifications of policy. 

We can provide accommodations covered under ADA title II, including but not limited to reserved seating and additional support for people with speech, hearing, or vision impairments.

Request an accommodation for an OAG event

If you require a communication aid or a policy or procedure change to participate in an OAG event, please make your request at least one week before the event.
 

Limitations

The ADA does not require us to take any action that would fundamentally alter the nature of our programs or services, or that would have an unreasonable financial or administrative cost. If you wish to complain that an OAG program, service, or activity is not accessible to persons with disabilities, or lodge a complaint that you have been wrongly denied a requested service or accommodation, contact the ADA administrator at ADA.Administrator@ag.ny.gov or 1-212-416-8311.
