ESA Commercialisation Gateway
Aéronautique et aérospatiale
The ESA Commercialisation Gateway is your entry point to Europe’s thriving space commercialisation sector.
À propos
The ESA Agenda 2025 sets high priority in boosting commercialisation in the European space sector. Fostering commercialisation requires deep knowledge of markets, its actors as well as emerging needs and technologies. Not only the space sector itself is undergoing revolutionary changes, space assets and technologies have major impacts on terrestrial markets. The purpose of the ESA Commercialisation Gateway is to identify these opportunities and to create links between new businesses and ESA. By interacting and listening to the needs of industry and potential partners, the Gateway embraces a market driven approach while at the same time providing easy access to ESA’s technical expertise and programmatic support. The ESA Commercialisation Gateway provides visibility on space-related market trends and developments, innovative projects, programme activities, technical developments as well as networking and funding opportunities. The ESA Commercialisation Gateway is open to requests and collaborations from interested parties including industry, academia or public organisations to jointly expand or develop new commercial space activities. #ESA #SpaceCare #Agenda2025

How can proven research in hybrid satellite-terrestrial networks be translated into deployable services? This question formed the central theme of the 5G-EMERGE Open Industry Workshop, held at European Space Agency - ESA Headquarters in Paris. The event provided a comprehensive overview of the achievements attained during the first two phases of the project and examined future opportunities for 6G-enabled connectivity and next-generation media services. The workshop brought together stakeholders from across the satellite, telecommunications and media sectors to review the progress made by 5G-EMERGE, an industry-led partnership coordinated by European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and co-funded through ESA Connectivity and Secure Communications' ARTES Strategic Programme Line for 5G/6G. Demonstrations throughout the day highlighted the maturity of technologies developed and validated by the consortium, including hybrid satellite-terrestrial connectivity solutions designed to support advanced media delivery services. Discussions also looked ahead to Phase 3. While the main scope is to turn proven research architectures designed in Phase 1 and 2 into deployable services addressing optimised content protection, the objective is also to prepare the future. Phase 3 - Towards 6G track will focus on optimum use of multi-orbit Non Terrestrial Networks (NTN) and the integration of devices and connected vehicles and robots. Key topics included TN/NTN interoperability, networks federation, AI-enabled network operations and emerging connected-devices use cases. The 5G/6G NTN Programme Office thanks all partners for their professionalism, collaboration, dedication, readiness, and responsiveness: EBU, SES Satellites, Eutelsat, Eutelsat OneWeb, Telenor, MediaTek, Keysight Technologies, SnT, Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust, FTA Communication Technologies, Humans Not Robots, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, VTT, Magister Solutions, University of Oulu, 6G Flagship, Verkotan Oy, NorthBase, Nextworks, RomARS S.r.l., G-Core Labs, Varnish Software, Arctic Space, TNO, Viasat, MinWave, SixSq an Ekinops company, CYSEC, SWISS TXT, Rai - Radiotelevisione Italiana, Fondazione LINKS, BFBS, Broadcast Critical.

Many future space missions will require antennas, reflectors and power systems that are too large to launch fully assembled. To help address this challenge, ESA Technology is advancing three complementary technologies for in-orbit assembly: MIRROR, ISAAC and RISE. Developed with industrial teams led by GMV, Space Applications Services NV/SA and Airbus Defence and Space UK, the MIRROR robot is being developed to move across structures, transport components and perform assembly tasks in orbit. As ESA Technical Officer Marti Vilella explains, these technologies could make the construction and maintenance of large-scale space infrastructure safer and more flexible. The European Space Agency - ESA launches Space Debt Catalogue to expand access to financing for Europe’s space sector. Announced during Industry Space Days 2026 at ESA-ESTEC, this new resource helps space companies identify debt financing solutions and better understand lender requirements. According to Gianluigi Baldesi, Head of ESA’s Ventures and Financing Office, the initiative is intended to strengthen collaboration between the European space sector and financial communities while continuing to evolve alongside industry needs. The initiative responds directly to challenges raised by industry. As Hans Bracquené, Chair of SME4SPACE, notes, understanding lender expectations can be just as important as identifying financing opportunities when preparing for discussions with financial institutions. Catherine Bender, Head of Financial Institutions Western Europe at the European Investment Bank (EIB), highlights the importance of appropriate financing in helping innovative companies scale and translate their potential into successful businesses.
