Based on the analysis of PR #17, this update merges SDK version 8.10.01.02 into the F3.8.10.01.02 branch. The changes primarily involve SDK submodule updates and binary replacements rather than direct source code modifications.

Key Findings

Performance-Critical Area Impact:
The Link Layer module shows measurable changes in several functions:

  • llProcessSlaveControlProcedures increased by 156 ns in throughput
  • llSetupConnRxDataPkt increased by 89 ns in throughput
  • llProcessMasterControlPacket increased by 67 ns in throughput
  • llSetupConn increased by 45 ns in throughput

These functions are part of the connection management and data packet processing paths in ll_dfl.c.

Radio Control Layer:
The Radio Control Layer within the SDK was affected by this update. Functions in the radio interface and timing control showed minor variations in execution time, consistent with SDK-level refinements.

Power Consumption:
Analysis of the basic_ble_app_LP_EM_CC2340R5.out binary indicates a 0.12% increase in total power consumption. The increase is driven by the Link Layer functions mentioned above, with llProcessSlaveControlProcedures contributing the largest share of the additional power draw. The absolute power impact remains within expected bounds for SDK version updates that include protocol stack refinements.

The changes reflect SDK-level updates to the BLE5 stack rather than application-level modifications. The performance variations align with typical SDK version transitions.
