You need to invoke path_append.zsh from your shell's "read command" file, e.g., ~/.bashrc or ~/.zshrc:
PATH_TO_GIT_REPO=... # Set to location of git repo
source "$PATH_TO_GIT_REPO/path_append.zsh"
