Fork summary:

Forked from bootstrap at 8d56c19b5509ef5b6358ee4b646a80bdffbe7396 on Oct 19 2019

Due to large generated CSS size, this is intended to be used in conjunction with tools that can trim unused CSS like purgeCss

Only focused on bootstrap-grid

Changes from original bootstrap-grid:

.container class removed since projects have their own .container

Change column count from 12 to 24

order-N classes count increased to 20

Add col-4-8 - make col 1/5th width of row

All spacer units changed:

  • Base on pixels but uses rem internally
  • Ex: pt-16 = padding-top: 1rem
  • Availble spacers:
    • 1 - 50 (1 increment) Ex: pt-37, pt-44
    • 50 - 100 (5 increment) Ex: pt-75, pt-95
    • 100 - 500 (10 increment)
    • 500 - 2000 (50 increment)

Add font-size (f) classes. Use regular spacer unit

  • Ex: f-16, f-md-20, ww-200, ww-xl-300

Add width (ww), min-width (minw), max-width (maxw) classes (along with height counterpart). Use regular spacer unit

  • Avoids collision with original bootstrap classes ( w-, mw- )
  • Ex:
    • ww-16: width: 1rem;
    • hh-1000
    • ww-md-50
    • minh-lg-200

Add percent / viewport classes:

  • Availble spacers:
    • 5 - 100 (5 increment)
  • w-Np = width: N%
  • minw-Np = min-width: N%
  • maxw-Np = max-width: N%
  • w-Nv = width: Nvw;
  • minw-Nv = min-width: Nvw;
  • maxw-Nv = max-width: Nvw;
  • (+ height counterpart and responsive) Ex: maxh-lg-50v = max-height: 50vh;

Add cpl, cpt, cml, cmt classes ( child padding/margin left/top)

  • will make all child (except first) have padding/margin
  • Ex: cpt-50, cpt-md-100
  • Variant (ccpl, ccpt, ccml, ccmt) but apply to first child as well

Row gutters class:

  • like bootstrap 5
  • Ex: g-16, gx-md-16, gy-lg-16

Add classes that were available in original bootstrap but not in bootstrap-grid

  • Add width / height classes ( w-100, vw-100, ... )
  • Add text-align classes ( text-md-center, ... )
  • Add position classes ( position-absolute, ... )
  • Add overflow classes ( overflow-auto, ... )
  • white-space classes ( .text-wrap, .text-nowrap, ...)

Shortened font-weight classes and add responsive

  • .thin, .extra-light, .light, .regular, .medium, .semi-bold, .bold, .extra-bold, .black
  • .medium-lg

Line height classes:

  • Ex: lh-1-6 = line-height: 1.6, lh-md-1-8
  • Available values = 0.5 - 2-5 (0.05 increment)

Border radius and border width classes (no responsive):

  • Ex: br-1 = border-radius: 1px;
  • Ex: bw-2 = border-width: 2px;
  • Available values = 1 - 20 (1 increment)

z-index classes (no responsive):

  • Ex: z-1
  • Available values = 1 - 10 (1 increment)

grid classes similar to tailwindcss (except responsive infix which followed bootstrap style):

  • d-grid
  • grid-rows-N / grid-cols-N
  • grid-mrows-N / grid-mcols-N variant ( uses min-content instead of minmax(0, 1fr) )
  • grid-arows-N / grid-acols-N variant ( uses auto )
  • row/col-start/end/span-N. value = 1 - 10 and auto
  • Ex: .grid-rows-1 .grid-cols-md-4 .col-start-md-10, .row-span-md-10, .grid-flow-md-row, .grid-flow-xl-row-dense
  • grid gap classes
    • Ex: .gap-10 .gap-md-10 .gap-x-lg-15 .gap-y-20

TODO documentation for:

  • Add media print classes for margin and padding

Documentation

Bootstrap's documentation, included in this repo in the root directory, is built with Hugo and publicly hosted on GitHub Pages at https://getbootstrap.com/. The docs may also be run locally.

Documentation search is powered by Algolia's DocSearch. Working on our search? Be sure to set debug: true in site/assets/js/src/search.js file.

Running documentation locally

  1. Run npm install to install the Node.js dependencies, including Hugo (the site builder).
  2. Run npm run test (or a specific npm script) to rebuild distributed CSS and JavaScript files, as well as our docs assets.
  3. From the root /bootstrap directory, run npm run docs-serve in the command line.
  4. Open http://localhost:9001/ in your browser, and voilà.

Learn more about using Hugo by reading its documentation.

Documentation for previous releases

You can find all our previous releases docs on https://getbootstrap.com/docs/versions/.

Contributing

Please read through our contributing guidelines. Included are directions for opening issues, coding standards, and notes on development.

Moreover, if your pull request contains JavaScript patches or features, you must include relevant unit tests. All HTML and CSS should conform to the Code Guide, maintained by Mark Otto.

Editor preferences are available in the editor config for easy use in common text editors. Read more and download plugins at https://editorconfig.org/.

Versioning

For transparency into our release cycle and in striving to maintain backward compatibility, Bootstrap is maintained under the Semantic Versioning guidelines. Sometimes we screw up, but we adhere to those rules whenever possible.
