A graphical, multiplatform ANSI files viewer and converter
ANSiMat is a graphical viewer of ANSI art files. It can also be used to convert ANSI (or plain ASCII) files into regular (BMP, TGA, PCX...) graphic files, or into animations (FLC). Altough not initially designed for this, ANSiMat can be successfully used as an ASCII art viewer, or even simple text files viewer. ANSiMat is available for Linux, Windows and DOS. ANSiMat supports also modem emulation speed, therefore it can be used to display ANSI animations. -

It also works with the Oregon Scientific WMR180 weather station (and probably similar models such as the WMR88 and WMR100) as well as the older WMR928. Sample weather data is provided. -

PasswordBox is a console-mode program that will keep all your passwords safe, in an encrypted database protected by a master password. PasswordBox can also be used to generate secure (random) passwords. This program is written by Mateusz Viste, and uses the AES implementation of Chris Brown to handle all encryption/decryption processes. PasswordBox is available for the following operating systems: DOS, Windows, Linux. Remember, that if you forget your master password, you will have no way to recover the database content. Usage: pbox [--help] [--dump] --help displays a help screen (any unsupported parameter will display it, too) --dump lists all the data of your encrypted database onscreen -

FB Chart Designer
Create multi-degree polynominals charts. Designed in FbEdit & WinAPI.
This program allows to draw diagrams with chart library, that can be used with dialog applications, based on the RC files designers (such as FbEdit for example). This is the one of the fastest way to create window application with visual design methods, and implement into it an ellegant and flexible chart, that can be choosen from four different diagram kinds (if you edit code and use it in your projects). The source code chart library by Lothar Schirm is based on the consolidated solutions from FireFly Designer by Paul Squires. FB Chart Designer shows the complete example of connection those mentioned solutions to achieve thiny file and less code project. It makes more simply to analyze code and provides faster implementation of rebuilted chart library. Chart drawing method is based on "windows.bi" FreeBasic library (Windows API framework). Fox Oring is a variation of the radio orienteering.
Fox Oring is a variation of the sport of amateur radio direction finding. Fox Oring is a timed race in which individual competitors use a topographic map and a magnetic compass to navigate through diverse, wooded terrain while searching for radio transmitters. The term is derived from the use of the term fox hunting to describe recreational radio direction finding activity and an abbreviation of the word orienteering. It is necessary to discover 5 hidden transmitters located on a 10 × 10 field in as few moves as possible. The transmitters broadcast in all 8 directions, the number on the cell indicates the number of intersecting signals. -

Here is a very simple game widely known as "Hangman". The computer chooses a random word from a file, and the player has to guess it. There is a possibility to add own words and/or create own vocabulary files. Many vocabulary files are shipped with the game. The program supports the following languages: english, french, german, dutch, polish and hungarian. It requires at least a 80286 processor and an EGA graphic card. Works on DOS, and any DOS-compatible operating system. -

An editor for NES ROMs in the iNES format.
MiNES is an editor for NES ROMs in the iNES format. I wrote MiNES because I needed a portable iNES editor that would allow me to change the PAL/NTSC bit of the iNES header. MiNES follows the Marat Fayzullin's iNES specification, and takes care to not change any unused (reserved for future use) bits. That way you can be sure that it will not brake your ROMs (unless you do something stupid), and preserve compatibility with future versions of the iNES format. MiNES computes ROM's CRC32 and uses an internal database to guess the game's title and correct (recommended) header settings. -

A simple news server (NNTP) for Linux
BasicNews is a simple news (NNTP) server for Linux. It's meant to be used as an internal server (eg. as a company news server, or private NNTP server, etc). BasicNews is not able to exchange posts with other servers, as it is designed to run on a leaf site. Keeping it simple allowed me to create an easy to install NNTP server, with no maintenance burden. BasicNews supports authentication of clients, both via internal flat files and via LDAP. -

Emeritus Pong
A clone of the good old "Pong" game.
Emeritus Pong is a clone of the good old "Pong" game. It tries to be relatively close to the original, therefore no fancy graphic or astonishing sound effects there. Emeritus Pong is written to be able to run on any modern PC. There are three versions available: DOS, Windows and Linux. Emeritus Pong features also a cool demo mode, which makes it playing against itself, displaying the current time as scores. The game is programmed to run flawlessly on any modern PC, but it will run on older architectures, too. A 90 MHz Pentium CPU and 2 Mb of RAM should be enough to run comfortably the DOS version. Emeritus Pong may run in any usual resolution, ranging from 320x240 to 1280x1024, fullscreen or windowed. If you would like to use any other video mode (not available from the game's setup), you will have to manually edit the empong.cfg configuration file. Windows and Linux versions require a sound card for sound, and DOS version simply uses the internal PC Speaker. -

FoxCalc is a calculator with a text user interface (TUI), compiled for DOS. It supports a mouse, and uses the GMP library, therefore its results are highly accurate. FoxCalc is distributed as a zip FreeDOS package. That way, it can be easily installed using the FreeDOS package manager. -

Set styles to words and create a Table of Contents in a click
KeyParaStocX (Keyword-based Paragraph Styling and Table of Contents eXtension) is a LibreOffice/Apache OpenOffice/OpenOffice.org extension that searches for the configured keywords in a text, changes their style and builds a Table of Contents for them, up to 7 levels. The keywords and their target styles can be configured by the users and used for every document they open. The extension integrates into Writer options and is independent of the operating system (should work on all).
