Hi *, We are talking about helping in the development, bug-fixing tasks and to extend IDE functionality, not only IDE speed. While talking about "a drawback to advance faster" we are talking about these tasks, not only 'the speed the IDE runs at'... Think about this, AFAIK some features (like code completion or syntax highlighting based on custom/personalized code libraries) DO need some sp= eed from the IDE ;o) BTW, C++ is also a high level programming language (as VB or Delphi), so = you can write pure C++ code without worrying about low level programming deta= ils and achieve really fast & small programs... (Just take a look at point 4 from this interview to Bjarne Stroustrup http://www.research.att.com/~bs/nantes-interview-english.html =3D8-O ) Anyway, it was only a suggestion... I like Dev-C++, but I'd like it more = and more if it was written in C++ ;oD Regards, Santy PS: For those really interested in writing assembler code, there's Visual= Assembler IDE also available at http://www.vasm.orm enjoy it! };oP -----Original Message----- From: Jorge Alzate [mailto:jor...@ep...]=20 Sent: Tuesday, July 30, 2002 1:32 PM To: dev...@li... I Don't think so, Really matters SPEED in a IDE like in games?, In other words: Languages like VB or Delphi are more than appropiated for GUI desi= gn in the opposite side those are futile, and then C++ and assembler they enter, if you like of real speed maybe you want to rewrite Dev-C++ in assembler :) ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by: Dice - The leading online job board fo= r high-tech professionals.
