Per W: Sure you are right: I'm not planning to running the IDE on some embedded system. But my idea is to make the IDE a good tool to develop emebeded system with embedded OS. Now there are some em-OSes, such as em-linux, uc/os. But I think they are not easy to use. For example, the coder must configure em-OS manually, delete useless code from em-OS manually, and he can not estimate the performance of em-OS(size, speed) when coding. My idea is to add some buttons to the IDE. One is configure button, the coder can choose, say, how many tasks in the em-system, the tactic of task-switch, and so on. And before compiling, the IDE can automatically delete useless em-OS code according to em-OS configuration. The other button is performance button, which can estimate the performance of em-OS according to current configuration. It is said that vxWorks has realized the idea above. I dont know it true or not, for I have never used vxWorks. No matter it's true or not, I want to do it, to show my capability to the university. :) Now you know why must I change the source of dev-cpp? And after all, even if I just change the compiler, still I have to recompile the IDE source, or it will still call MinGW. Isn't it?
