[Dev-C++] Game Engines And Linux

I am looking forward to some RPG game programming in Dev-C++. First, would you reccomend any engines that are Windows and Linux compatible? I am looking on sourceforge.net for engines, and am looking at a number of engines, but aren't sure of the best one. Open-source is preferred. Also, can you get Dev-C++ for Linux?
