Hi Malcolm... (thank you for your attentions) Just to get the problem straight in my mind, you are trying to compile the examples which came with Irrlicht 0.5 in DevCpp? It's right. I would suggest downloading and installing the newer version 0.6 from the Irrlicht site. Did you download the DevPak for Irrlicht? Did you install the DevPak? No, but I will do it (I didn't know there was a devpak for irrlicht...). I believe that the code is being compiled for DirectX use, but the Irrlicht DLL which accompanied the program was not compiled with DirectX. As a user you have to recompile the SDK in order to use DirectX with Irrlicht. As a workaround look for a line in the source files which looks like: IrrlichtDevice *device =3D createDevice(video::EDT_DIRECTX8, = core::dimension2d<s32>(640, 480)); change it to IrrlichtDevice *device =3D createDevice(video::EDT_OPENGL, = core::dimension2d<s32>(640, 480)); Yes, it's right... I only wanted to try also directx=20 (I have never used it: open question: (I hope in a large number of opinions!)... which is better: OpenGL or = directX, ...and why? Thanks,=20 bye M. |
