If you include conio.h, no declared functions will be included in your program. However, when your program uses one or more variables or functions from a library, the linker will extract the needed object files from the relevant library. Since a library is just a single file containing a collection of object files, the library creator will decide what granularity of functions the linker may select. If all conio functions were compiled from a single source file, all conion functions will be located in the same object file within the library. Then, the linker is forced to include all conio functions - even the unused ones. This is one of the reasons why source code to runtime libraries normally contains thousands and thousands of small source files. Each source file just contains one or two functions, to give the linker a possibility of being selective about what to include. /Per W On Mon, 26 Jul 2004, Noorez Kassam wrote: > Question with library files and include files. > For example, if i included conio.h, do all the object files of the declar= ed > functions get included in my program from the libraries or just the > functions that I actually use in my program? > > _________________________________________________________________ > Take advantage of powerful junk e-mail filters built on patented Microsof= t=AE > SmartScreen Technology. > http://join.msn.com/?pgmarket=3Den-ca&page=3Dbyoa/prem&xAPID=3D1994&DI=3D= 1034&SU=3Dhttp://hotmail.com/enca&HL=3DMarket_MSNIS_Taglines > Start enjoying all the benefits of MSN=AE Premium right now and get the > first two months FREE*. > > > > ------------------------------------------------------- > This SF.Net email is sponsored by BEA Weblogic Workshop > FREE Java Enterprise J2EE developer tools! > Get your free copy of BEA WebLogic Workshop 8.1 today. > http://ads.osdn.com/?ad_id=3D4721&alloc_id=3D10040&op=3Dclick > _______________________________________________ > Dev-cpp-users mailing list > Dev...@li... > TO UNSUBSCRIBE: http://www23.brinkster.com/noicys/devcpp/ub.htm > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/dev-cpp-users > |
