We’re introducing several updates to NotebookLM that give users more flexibility when uploading sources, new ways to create and edit visuals from NotebookLM and improvements to the interactive study tools.

More functions and new visual communication tools

  • Slide revisions: Users can now revise presentation content, ask for changes or fix any issues on both desktop and mobile. Users can submit stylistic or factual feedback for each slide and the slides are regenerated quickly as a new deck in the Studio panel.

  • Cinematic Video Overviews: Cinematic Video Overviews are immersive, deep-dive videos with fluid animations and rich, detailed visuals to help you learn and engage with the topics you care about. Gemini models make hundreds of structural and stylistic decisions to best tell the story with your sources. The videos are ideal for visualizing complex narratives and academic research.

  • New infographic styles: Users can now manually choose from ten new predefined infographic styles to visually summarize their sources. Options include: Sketch Note, Kawaii, Professional, Scientific, Anime, Clay, Editorial, Instructional, Bento Grid, and Bricks. By default, NotebookLM will continue to auto-select the best style for your sources.

  • Improved flashcards & quizzes: Progress is now saved and loaded across sessions when using Flashcards and Quizzes in NotebookLM. Users can also now mark flashcards as "Got it" or "Missed it," shuffle the deck, and use a new results screen to rerun any cards they missed. Additionally, specific flashcards or quiz questions can now be deleted. These improvements are available on both web and mobile.
    • Improvements to flashcards and quizzes are available to all users. Slide revisions, Cinematic Video Overviews, and new infographic styles are available to users over the age of 18.

Support for more file types

  • EPUB: All NotebookLM users can now upload EPUB files, the standard, open-source file format for eBooks, as a supported source type in NotebookLM, making it easier to research and interact with long-form digital books.
  • PPTX export: Users can now export generated slide decks as PPTX (in addition to PDF).

Chat improvements

  • Saved and secure conversation history: To support long-term projects, your conversations will be automatically saved and kept private to you. You can close a session and resume it later without losing your conversation history. You can delete chat history at any time, and in shared notebooks, your chat is visible only to you.
  • Artifact creation in chat: You can now instantly transform your chat conversations into stunning Audio Overviews, Video Overviews, tailored reports, and more. Just ask Notebook to create the artifact of your choosing — all without leaving the chat.

Starting today, Workspace users can now add notebooks from NotebookLM as a source in the Gemini app. This will provide deeper, more relevant responses that are grounded in the sources in your notebook. This functionality is already available to consumers, and we’re excited to share that it is now expanding to Enterprise and Education users of all ages.

NotebookLM is a powerful tool for synthesizing information from vast document collections, including PDFs, Google Docs, and more, all with clear, citable sources. By adding notebooks directly into Gemini, users can seamlessly build upon this deep, specific knowledge base and get more relevant responses with the full power of Gemini’s advanced conversational and content-creation capabilities.

Try asking Gemini to:

  • Create content based on your notebook
  • Add a notebook to a Gem
  • Use other Gemini tools (like Canvas, Veo, Guided Learning, or Deep Research) based on the contents of your notebook

Getting started

Admins: Notebooks as a source within Gemini is determined by the NotebookLM service setting within the Admin Console and is not controlled by the Gemini app service setting. NotebookLM must be turned on in order for end users to access this feature in Gemini. Visit the Help Center to learn more.

  • Note: When using NotebookLM features within the Gemini app, that usage is subject to NotebookLM's compliance certifications. These may differ from the certifications held by the Gemini app. Please review the specific compliance certifications for both NotebookLM and Gemini to understand the coverage for your organization. Learn more in the Generative AI in Google Workspace Privacy Hub.
End users: Add your NotebookLM notebook(s) to a chat in Gemini by selecting NotebookLM via the “+” button in the prompt box. Users must have access to NotebookLM turned on by their admin to access this feature. Visit the Help Center to learn more.

What’s changing

We’re introducing Data Tables in NotebookLM, a new feature that helps you organize and analyze information from your sources in a structured format.

Valuable information is rarely neat. Key facts are often scattered, making manual compilation tedious.
Today, we’re making that simpler with Data Tables. NotebookLM now synthesizes your sources into clean, structured tables, ready for export to Google Sheets.

Here are some ways to use them:

  • Prepare for exams with study tables of historical events, organized by date, key figures, and consequences.
  • Turn meeting transcripts into a clean table of action items, categorized by owner and priority. Or build a competitor comparison table analyzing pricing and strategies.
  • Streamline curriculum mapping by aligning state standards, learning objectives, and assessment criteria across your semester plan.
  • Synthesize clinical trial outcomes across multiple papers to track study years, sample sizes and statistics.

Data Tables will be available to users of all ages.

We’re excited to introduce Nano Banana Pro (Gemini 3 Pro Image), our new state-of-the-art image generation and editing model. Starting today, Nano Banana Pro is rolling out to Google Workspace customers in Google Slides, Vids, the Gemini app, and NotebookLM.

Google Slides:

“Help me visualize” in Slides now uses Nano Banana Pro to help anyone create stunning infographics, images, and slides. We also added an all-new experience, “Beautify this slide”, to help people create thoughtfully designed visuals—based on the content of an existing slide—that can be used as individual slides. Here’s what’s coming:

  • Infographic: Generate detailed, professional infographics directly in Slides, all with just a simple prompt. Nano Banana Pro is connected to Google Search’s vast knowledge base, meaning it does an incredible job at representing real-world objects and places, all while taking into account the details you describe in your prompt.
  • Images: The same experience you know, now using Nano Banana Pro. Create stunning, realistic images that help add value to any slide deck.
  • Beautify this slide: In just a click, “Beautify this slide” turns your ideas into a compelling visual with more accurate, legible text while modeling the look and feel of the overall deck. Like what you see? Simply select “insert as new slide” and the visual will be added directly into your deck as an individual slide.

Beautify your slides with Nano Banana Pro in Slides

NotebookLM:

With Nano Banana Pro in NotebookLM, you can now visualize key insights from your sources as high-quality infographics. This allows you to distill complex information and relationships into a single, high-impact visual that makes your data easier to digest. You can also create complete and polished slide decks directly from your sources and share them as a PDF. See it in action.

Google Vids:

In Google Vids, Nano Banana Pro allows you to generate and edit images with greater precision. With new multi-turn prompting, you can refine your visuals iteratively, helping you create custom, production-ready assets to include in your videos.

Gemini app:

Generate high-quality, sophisticated visuals that help bring your creative ideas to life in the Gemini app. Simply select “Create images” and “Thinking” from the model drop down menu to access Nano Banana Pro.

Note: Workspace customers will get promotional access to higher usage limits of Nano Banana Pro in these apps for at least 60 days, allowing users to experiment with these features. Per-user usage limits will apply afterward; we’ll provide more information in a future update prior to any changes. What’s changing

Google Workspace for Education users of all ages can now use Video Overviews in NotebookLM. Users can now turn documents, slides, charts and more into engaging explainer videos that are narrated by an AI voice. Video Overviews are expertly-crafted visual walkthroughs of the content you provide, pulling in images, diagrams, quotes, and numbers from your source material. Similar to Audio Overviews, you’ll also have the option to customize your Video Overview by specifying topics to focus on, indicating your learning goals, describing the target audience, and much more.

Why you’d use it

Video overview can be a helpful resource for students as they study and learn with NotebookLM. For example, students under 18 can now create more engaging learning materials with powerful new visuals through Video Overviews.

NotebookLM is covered under the Google Workspace for Education Terms of Service for all Workspace for Education users and has enterprise-grade data protection, meaning your data is not human reviewed or otherwise used to train AI models.

What’s changing

Over the last year, we’ve brought the capabilities of Gemini to Google Classroom to support new ways of teaching and learning. A few months ago, we expanded Gemini in Classroom to help educators use AI for their common teaching tasks. Today, we’re making it possible for educators to use Google’s NotebookLM and Gems to create teacher-led AI experiences for students of all ages in Google Classroom.

Now, educators can instantly create interactive AI learning experiences for students using NotebookLM and Gems right from Google Classroom – and using their class materials. They can then be assigned to students for extra practice, support, and learning opportunities:

  • Using NotebookLM, educators can select resources from their class to instantly create an interactive study guide and other learning aids like podcast-style audio overviews, mind maps, and more – grounded only in the materials educators upload. See examples

  • Educators can create a Gem, which is a custom version of Gemini, for their students to interact with. Teachers can select class materials to inform a new Gem, whether they create one from scratch or select one of the templates in Classroom (Study partner, Quiz me, Brainstorm partner, or Real-world connector). Because Gemini is informed by learning science research through LearnLM, educators’ Gems will lean into best-in-practice pedagogical behaviour as students interact with them – helping students to better understand concepts and test their knowledge, rather than just give them the answer. See examples for educators

Once created, students will be able to access the teacher-created notebook or Gem on their Classwork page in Classroom, either as a “Class learning resource” at the top of the page, or as part of an assignment.

Who’s impacted

Admins and end users

What’s changing

Last year, we introduced Gemini LTI™, an AI-powered assistant that can integrate into third party Learning Management Systems (LMS). Gemini LTI™ helps enhance the educational experience for both educators and students by providing AI-driven tools and features powered by Gemini within their LMS environment, such as Canvas by Instructure and PowerSchool Schoology Learning.

Today, we’re excited to announce that NotebookLM is now integrated with Gemini LTI™. As a result, educators can create Notebooks per week/topic and publish them within Gemini LTI. These Notebooks can include relevant teaching materials and act as an additional resource for students to use while learning. In the coming weeks, Gems will also be integrated with Gemini LTI™.

For example, educators can:
  • Create content-grounded Notebooks that help define their curriculum and empower students to learn at their own pace.
  • Create Gems for FAQs that help students quickly find answers to common questions about assignments, and more (coming soon).

For example, students can:
  • Learn on-the-go by creating a podcast-like Audio Overview of their course material with NotebookLM
  • Get in-the-moment assistance with real-time coaching using Gems (coming soon).

What’s changing

We are expanding support for the NotebookLM for Google Workspace for Education users of all ages.

They can also generate audio overviews to take learning on the go and make content more accessible, digestible and engaging.

Additional details

NotebookLM is available in 180+ regions where Gemini API is available and currently supports 35+ languages. Users can only upload sources from Workspace that they have permission to access. What’s changing

Since introducing Audio Overviews last year, NotebookLM users have created podcast-like, detailed summaries of key topics from their uploaded sources. To build upon this functionality and provide users with a more educational and visual experience, we’re excited to introduce Video Overviews.

At this time, Video Overviews are only available to users over the age of 18.

We’re also introducing upgrades to the Studio panel where you would create things such as audio overviews and notes in NotebookLM, which includes multiple audio overviews and content sharing. Specifically, users can now:
  • Generate multiple Audio Overviews in a single notebook. This means you can now create versions in different languages from the same source material, or generate a set of Audio Overviews that each focus on different subsections of your sources.
  • Generate shareable links for content like Audio Overviews and Video Overviews, which cannot be shared outside of your domain.

Additional details

  • Video Overviews are now rolling out to all users in English, with support for more languages coming soon.
  • Only users with access to your Notebook can view content you share via a shareable link.

    What’s changing

Since bringing NotebookLM to Google Workspace customers earlier this year, and most recently to Google Workspace for Education, many have utilized the Audio Overviews feature.

Audio Overviews are lively “deep dive” discussions between two AI hosts who summarize key topics in your sources. These turn documents, slides, charts and more into engaging discussions with one click and are especially useful for learning on-the-go. Today, we’re excited to expand Audio Overviews to over 50 languages in Beta.

    Additional details

For Audio Overviews, you can upload sources from all supported languages, including a combination of different languages in the same notebook, and then generate audio in any of the languages outlined above.

Audio Overviews are not meant to be a subjective view of a topic by the AI hosts, but simply a reflection of the source content that you have uploaded. Interactive mode, when a user is able to join the hosts’ conversation and ask questions, will remain in beta and is only available in English at this time.

Please note that this is an early look at what's possible with this feature in non-English languages — we plan to keep building and refining it based on your feedback.
