Citicoline: Uses, Effects, and Dosage

Citicoline seems to increase levels of phosphatidylcholine in the brain which is important for brain function. It may also decrease brain tissue damage following injury. Citicoline taken by mouth or intravenously seems to improve memory and recovery from stroke and may improve symptoms of long-term cerebrovascular diseases. While some evidence suggests it may help cognitive function in Alzheimer's disease and vision problems in glaucoma, more evidence is needed to determine effectiveness for other conditions. Common side effects may include insomnia, headache, diarrhea and others. Safety of long-term use is unknown and it should be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding due to lack of information.

MOA: Citicoline seems to increase a brain chemical called phosphatidylcholine. his brain chemical is important !or brain !"nction.
