Using Magnetite particles for Water treatment process
by CSIRO in Australia
remove colour, turbidity and other impurities from water
Three
to Five times faster than conventional process

What is Magnetite?
Magnetite
is a fully oxidized form of iron ( 1-10um )
Magnetite
is very dense (Magnetite Sp.G.= 5.2; Sand Sp.G. = 2.7)
Magnetite
is insoluble in water and surface characteristics are more favourable
Magnetite
is non-toxic and commonly found in the environment

Technology Description
Suspended
solids are attached to magnetite with a flocculating polymer to form a
magnetic floc.
The
magnetic floc is removed by gravity or magnetically with permanent
magnets.
The
magnetite is treated, cleaned and returned for reuse.
