Apparel Demand and Chef Simulation Analysis

The apparel store keeps a stock of branded clothing and produces at least 30 items per day. Based on past data, daily demand was simulated over 5 days which estimated an average daily demand of 20 items. A chef's time requirements for dishes were provided along with probabilities. Random numbers were used to simulate orders over 3 hours at 30 minute intervals. The average waiting time for customers was estimated at 24 minutes and the chef had no idle time.

1. An Apparel Store keeps a stock of branded clothing.

It has been
observed that during the production is at least 30 per day. Previous
experience indicates the daily demand as given below:

Daily 0 10 20 30 40 50
Demand
Probabilit 0.03 0.27 0.11 0.45 0.08 0.06
y

Consider the following sequence of random numbers:

45, 21,33,18,68
Simulate the demand for next 5 days.
Estimate the daily average demand for the apparel on the basis of
simulated data.

SOLUTION:

Deman Probabilit Cumulative Range

2. A chef requires the following time for preparing the various speciality dishes.
The following summary shows the probabilities and the time actually needed
for the same.

Italian 45 0.15
Indian 15 0.35
Chinese 15 0.1

The chef is exclusively available at the restaurant kitchen for 3 hours.

Determine the average waiting time for the customers as well as the
idleness of the chef. Assume that each order is placed at an interval of 30
minutes and the first order is placed at 8.00 am. Use the following random
numbers:
37, 81,17,94,49,66. Simulate the restaurant for three hours.
