Topic: Understanding Properties of Matter


Instructions:
You are required to choose and perform any ONE of the following activities at home. Present
it creatively on a chart paper with pictures of you doing the activity.
Choose ONE of the following activities:
1. Activity 1: To show that particles of matter are very small.
(Example: Dissolving a coloured crystals in water repeatedly, reference : Activity 1, page 9
2. Activity 2: To show that there is space between particles of water (Intermolecular
spaces)
(Example: Mixing salt in water and observing no increase in volume, reference: Activity 3 ,
page 4)
3. Activity 3: To prove the Law of Conservation of Mass
(Example: Mixing vinegar and baking soda in a closed setup and observing no change in
mass, reference: Activity 6, page 9)
Chart Layout Instructions:
Divide your chart into the following 5 sections:
1. Title and Name of the Activity
Write a clear title based on the activity chosen.
Example: “Activity to Show That Particles of Matter are Very Small”
2. Materials Required
List all the materials needed for the experiment.
3. Steps of the Activity
Write the step-by-step procedure in simple points (5–6 steps max).
4. Observation and Conclusion

GEOGRAPHY
