FEM Analysis of Fluid Flow in Piping

This document provides instructions for an assignment to analyze fluid flow through a piping network. Students are asked to: 1) Determine the pressure distribution at each node of the piping system given the inlet and outlet pressures and fluid properties, 2) Calculate the flow rate in each branch of the piping, and 3) Verify the results using LISA software.

Assignment FEM (Fluid Topic) Sem 1 20172018

Oil with dynamic viscosity of = 0.5 Ns/m2 and density of = 800 kg/m3 flows through the piping
network as shown above. The pressure at the inlet point (node 1) is 46600 Pa and the pressure at
outlet point (node 6) is -4000 Pa. Given the dimensions of the piping system and the laminar flow
throughout the system:

a) Determine the pressure distribution in the system

b) How does the flow rate in each branch

Verify the entire questions above by using LISA software.
